Schedule Changes and Reconfirmations
The information below outlines procedures to assist Travel Agents with reservations and ticketing for passengers affected by Qantas schedule changes.
Travel Agents will receive notification of the schedule change in a SSR / RM remark via the GDS. Should you require assistance with your passengers flights please contact Qantas Telephone Sales on 1 800 227 4500.
The Agent can revalidate the ticket for a date and / or time change. Additional fare/tax/change fee associated to the fare does not apply.
- Agent can reissue the ticket. Additional fare/tax/change fee associated to the fare does not apply.
- Reference authority "QFINVOLCHG" to be entered into the endorsement box.
- The above procedure applies to all tickets validated to Qantas (081) affected by a schedule change to a Qantas marketed flight with a QF flight number.
- Valid for published fares, net fares and private fares.
- Qantas will continue to revalidate and reissue tickets not validated to Qantas (081).
Should you require any guidance with the above ticketing please contact Qantas Sales Support on 1-800-227-4795.
Qantas utilises several methods to communicate flight schedule changes to customers and travel agents. The options available are designed to keep customers and travel agents updated on flight schedule changes, and at the same time, minimise the action required by travel agents when changes occur. The following information outlines the various methods utilised by Qantas for advising flight schedule changes to Qantas domestic and international flights, for travel within and from Australia. Please promote these options with your customers, as this will assist them in being kept up to date when flight schedule changes occur.
The primary method of schedule change communication to travel agents is through flight segment changes, resulting in the PNR being queued to the travel agency's office GDS queues.
Customers can view their own booking itinerary and current flight timings by entering their Qantas Amadeus record locator and name via Manage Your Booking at qantas.com. In order to utilise this service, travel agents will need to provide the customer with their Qantas Amadeus record locator.
If a schedule change occurs within 72 hours of departure, Qantas will attempt to contact those customers affected (this will depend on the advance notice given and timing of the schedule change). In order to be able to contact each customer, it is imperative that every PNR has as many customer contact details as possible, including:
- Home phone number
- Business phone number
- Mobile phone number
- Phone number at destination, eg. Hotel, Accommodation, etc.
- Email addresss
- Any other forms of contact
Customers can view updated flight departure (and arrival) times for Qantas flights worldwide via Flight Status at qantas.com.

* Depending on timing and advance notice of schedule change
If a QF schedule change occurs, resulting in Qantas reaccommodating your passenger onto an alternate flight, then the change fee (if applicable) does not apply. However, you will need to ensure that the e-ticket is reissued or revalidated to reflect the changed flight details to ensure your passenger does not experience any disruption at check in. Providing the origin/destination of the affected fare component remains unchanged in the event of a Qantas schedule change, you are permitted to revalidate the e-ticket (reissuing the ticket is NOT required). For example: QF604 20AUG MEL/BNE is schedule changed to QF606 20AUG MEL/BNE - the fare component remains the same, therefore you can just revalidate the e-ticket to reflect the changed flight details. If, for example, the schedule change results in a MEL/OOL direct flight being schedule changed to travel via SYD to OOL, contact Qantas to obtain an authority number before reissuing the e-ticket. The authority number needs to be entered into the endorsement field on the reissued ticket. When you reissue the ticket due to a QF Schedule change, the new e-ticket needs to reflect the "YR" change fee as being "exempt" in the tax code box (if a fee is applicable to that fare type). Any additional taxes that may also be incurred as a result of the schedule change are also permitted to be excluded from collection, but they must be reflected as exempt on the reissued ticket also.
The Qantas policy regarding flight reconfirmation is as follows:
- Reconfirmation is not required for any Qantas flight
