Name Correction
Definition

Correcting a name field of a passenger name record (PNR).

Policy

Once ticketed, corrections to the name field are not permitted. However an authority will be considered as follows:

  • Married to Maiden Name
  • Typing error within the surname
  • Typing error within the first name and/or title
  • Typeing error within the surname and the first name/title ie: SMYTH/MARY MS should be SMITH/MARIA MS
  • Jextaposing ie: MARIA/SMITH MISS should be SMITH/MARIA MISS

Once travel has commenced, name corrections are not permitted under any circumstances

Procedure

Pre-Ticketing

Qantas permits only one (1) name correction of three (3) characters or less to the family name and unlimited to the first name and title prior to commencement of travel. No authority for such requests is required from Qantas. The name can simply be corrected in your GDS.

When the itinerary contains segments on other carriers, the applicable carriers name correction policy will apply, this includes codeshare flights.
