Waitlist Clearance
The Qantas Automatic Waitlist Clearance (AWC) process is designed to automatically clear the most eligible passengers from waitlist when space becomes available. This selection process is based upon key criteria, including the customer's status in relation to Qantas Loyalty programs such as Chairmans Lounge, Qantas Club and Frequent Flyer. Other criteria include:
- Through passengers/completed itinerary except for one waitlisted segment - priority given to through passengers where the waitlist segment connects directly with another QF or BA confirmed segment
- Selling Class - As a general rule, the higher revenue classes will be given a higher priority
- Sector Length - A higher priority is given to PNRs containing multiple sectors
- Time and Date - The time and date of travel a flight has been waitlisted for
- There are also criteria that prevents PNRs being considered for AWC which include:
- Any passenger who has previously no-showed - Any passenger confirmed in a higher selling class on the same flight and date
The AWC will close 8 hours prior to departure for domestic flights and 24 hours prior to departure from each board point for international flights.
Segments are only held on waitlist for the following specified rules and will expire as per the following guidelines:
- Segments will be cancelled if the waitlisted segment is within 7 days of departure and the segment was created 21 days prior
- Segments will be cancelled if the waitlisted segment is between 7 and 24 days prior to departure and the segment was created 60 days prior. Note: For segments booked directly in Amadeus will not cancel, but will be considered for AWC once the above limits are reached
The waitlisted segment will not cancel if the customer is a member of a Qantas loyalty program and an SSR FQTV has been added to the PNR.
Segments will cancel automatically and a HX message will be generate to the PNR owners with an explanation in an SSR.
