Effective for sale, travel and ticket issue from 7 July 2011, Qantas will implement a new Australian Domestic Economy class fare structure. The new structure will provide enhanced simplicity and
flexibility for our customers and will be applicable for travel within Australia to all Qantas and QantasLink domestic and regional markets.
The new fare structure will continue to provide Qantas customers with a checked baggage allowance, seat selection, meals or refreshments and inflight entertainment* without additional charge. (*Inflight entertainment not available on QantasLink regional services.)
Summary of Key Changes
Fare Family Changes
Fares in the Economy cabin will now be grouped into three fare families, each of which provides varying levels of flexibility for our customers:
- The Red eDeal fare family now consists of E, O, Q, N and S classes;
- The Flexi Saver fare family now consists of V, L, M, K and H classes; and
- The Fully Flexible fare family now consists of B and Y class.
The implementation of the new fare structure will see the removal of the Super Saver fare family, and as a result, S class will now form part of the Red eDeal fare family and V, L and M classes will now form part of the Flexi Saver fare family.
The above changes will apply to all sales channels including Qantas.com, Qantas Telephone Sales, Qantas Industry Centre, Qantas offices and Travel Agents. Refer to the applicable fare rule in the GDS for fare rules and fees.
Qantas will also introduce the ability to name change (subject to conditions) on Flexi Saver, Fully Flexible and Business class fares (a fee applies on selected booking classes). A ‘name change’ is defined as using the value of an unused ticket (inclusive of Ticket Taxes*) as credit towards payment for a new ticket in another person’s name.
The new name change facility further demonstrates Qantas’ commitment to tailoring our domestic and regional fare offering to better accommodate the requirements of our customers. Further information on name change can be found here
