Qantas News
Message from Qantas 20 January 2012

Qantas wishes to remind all travel agents of the forthcoming effectiveness - on Thursday, January 26, 2012 - of the next set of requirements imposed by the US Department of Transportation's new Rules for Enhancing Airline Passenger Protections. These requirements are in addition to other new rules that became effective on August 23, 2011.

The new DOT rules for enhancing airline protections affect your sales and marketing of Qantas tickets in the United States (US). Qantas Airways requires all Travel Agents selling our services in the U.S. to comply with the new requirements.

A brief summary of the key requirements affecting your activities is provided below. The single most important of the requirements becoming effective on January 26, 2012, is the requirement that all prices of air transportation must state the total price to be paid, i.e., the advertised price must include all applicable taxes, fees, and fuel surcharge.

The full text of the new DOT rules can be viewed online at http://federalregister.gov/a/2011-9736. Additional information regarding the effectiveness and enforcement of the rules can be found at http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/rules/rules.htm.

Should you have any questions, please contact the Qantas Industry Centre/North America at 6080 Center Drive, Suite 400, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
