New Requirements for Business Traveller's working in Belgium 24 April 2007

On April 1st 2007 the Belgian Government implemented a program which requires International Business Travellers who will work in Belgium for more than five consecutive days in a month, to register before entering the country. The program known as "Limosa", requires a traveller's employer, or a third party, to register the traveller on their behalf. Those travelling to Belgium can not register themselves. A Limosa-1 certificate will be electronically generated upon registering. This certificate must be printed and carried by the traveller on their trip to Belgium.

Failure to comply with the program may result in penalties for a traveller's employer and for the hosting Belgian company. Specifically, the traveller's employer could face up to two years of imprisonment and a fine of US$8000. Exemptions to the program have been granted for government personnel, scientists, entertainers/athletes, and a number of other segments of the travelling public.

Any travellers ticketed to a Belgian destination should be advised of Limosa when a reservation is made. For more information, visit http://www.limosa.be/
