Award Types
You can choose from these options for Awards Flights:
- a Qantas & Partner Classic Award, or
- a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award.
Qantas & Partner Classic Awards
You can book a Classic Award on available seats on eligible Qantas, oneworld and other partner airlines. Availability is limited and conditions apply.
Seats on Qantas flights available as Classic Awards may alternatively be obtained through the Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award booking process as a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award (for flights with a QF flight number) although different points (which include surcharges, fees and taxes) and conditions may apply.
Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards
You can use all points or Points Plus Pay to book a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award for any available seat on a Qantas or Jetstar flight with a QF or JQ flight number. In addition, when booking a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award, you can combine your Qantas flights with selected flights on other selected airlines for onward travel to other great destinations.* The number of points required will vary and will be quoted at the time of booking. The points required are not always linked to retail fares and are generally higher than Classic Awards.
The points needed for Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards are determined by Qantas Frequent Flyer and there is no fixed relationship between the price charged by Qantas or Jetstar for a seat and the points needed to redeem a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award. Not all special promotional fares are available as Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards. Fare conditions for Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards are also different to the fare conditions applicable to cash fares.
The points quoted for a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award include surcharges, fees and taxes (excluding any local payment for airport fees or charges). You can choose to redeem 100% points or use Points Plus Pay. With Points Plus Pay, you can choose the number of points and the amount of money that you wish to use for an Award. A minimum number of points must be redeemed so you cannot pay 100% money. The minimum number of points required will vary and will be quoted during the booking process. When you use Points Plus Pay additional GST and charges may apply.
The points required for Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards are variable and are only valid when quoted. If you finalise your booking at a later time, points required at that time may be different.
Classic Awards are subject to capacity controls and availability is limited. The number of seats available for Classic Awards depends on the flight, date, season and destination and some flights may not have any Classic Awards available.
The seats made available for Classic Awards on Qantas flights may also be obtained through the Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award booking process (although points required are usually higher, and include surcharges, fees and taxes). Different conditions apply to Any Seat Awards. Members can still choose to obtain those seats as Classic Awards in a separate booking.
A particular itinerary may be available as more than one Award Type (ie Qantas & Partner Classic Awards or Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards). Points required for each Award Type for the same itinerary may be different and each may have different fare conditions. The booking process for each Award Type may be different.
* A limited number of seats on selected partner airlines (as offered by Qantas at the time of booking) may be combined with your Qantas or Jetstar flights in a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award. Airline partner flights which may be combined with Jetstar flights in an Any Seat Award are more limited than those which may be combined with Qantas flights. Jetstar airline partners currently include Jetstar Asia (3K), Valuair (VF), Jetstar Pacific (BL) and Qantas (QF) - refer to available flights at time of booking for applicable airline partner flights.
