Australia to Manchester or Milan with only one stop

From 31 March 2013, Qantas customers can fly from Sydney or Melbourne to Manchester or Milan via Dubai with Qantas and then Emirates. These codeshare flights mean customers can earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points and Status credits to these cities in Europe.Ω Qantas services via Dubai are subject to regulatory approvals.

Changes to the Loyalty bonus

Members currently earn a Loyalty bonus of 8,000 points for every 500 Status credits earned on eligible Qantas or partner airline flights within a single membership year (up to a maximum of four Loyalty bonuses per membership year). From 1 July 2013, only Status credits earned from flights with a QF flight number (including partner airline flights with a QF flight number) will contribute to the Status credits calculation for the Loyalty Bonus. Tier qualification and retention requirements will remain unchanged.b

Changes to the Qantas Frequent Flyer terms and conditions

With effect from 1 May 2013, Qantas Frequent Flyer will amend clauses 3.2 and 3.3 of the terms and conditions of the program. The changes will mean that from this date:

Qantas will use best efforts to give members at least three months notice (rather than the current six months) of material changes to the terms and conditions that limit benefits provided by Qantas; and
Members living in Australia and New Zealand will now receive notice of relevant changes by email and/or online at qantas.com (rather than by mail), so it's important for all members to have their email address up to date.

An improved upgrade experience

International upgrade confirmation right up to the gate
In response to customer feedback we will now be processing international upgrades much closer to the time of departure, meaning fewer empty seats in premium cabins. Find out more

Domestic registration
If an upgrade is not immediately available when you request it, you are now able to register for a domestic Flight Upgrade Award. This means we will notify you if your upgrade is confirmed so you do not have to come back to qantas.com to see if an upgrade is available. Find out more

Bigger baggage allowance

We have listened to your feedback and are pleased to announce that the baggage policy for Gold Frequent Flyer members travelling domestically^ in Economy class has increased to 2 bags weighing 23kg each. When travelling internationally, excluding the Americas, Gold Frequent Flyer members are also entitled to 46kg in Economy and Premium Economy (not piece restricted). Find out more
