Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar FAQs

What is the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar?
The Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar is a downloadable application that sits on your Internet browser and allows you to earn Qantas Points - just for doing everyday web searches.

Do I have to pay to download and use the Toolbar?
No. The Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar is free.

As a result of installing the Toolbar will I start receiving pop-up advertising messages?
No, you will not receive any pop-up messages that contain advertising. The only messaging that you will receive through the Toolbar will be to notify you as to whether you have conducted a valid or invalid search.

Will the Toolbar install spyware, adware or malware on my computer?
No. The Toolbar is free from spyware, adware and malware.

Which browsers are supported by the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar?
At the moment, the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar is compatible with:
1. Microsoft Internet Explorer (PC)
a. Min Version Supported 8
b. Max Version Supported 10

2. Mozilla Firefox (PC & Mac)
a. Min Version Supported 3.6
b. Max Version Supported 25

3. Google Chrome (PC)
a. Min Version Supported 25
b. Max Version Supported 30

Will you eventually be supporting Safari?
Compatibility is currently in development. In the meantime, you can download the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar in another supported browser so you can start earning your points now.

Does the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar work on mobile devices?
No. The Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar does not currently work on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

How do I earn Qantas Points for searching using the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar?
Firstly, you must be logged in to earn points for searching through the Toolbar. Once you are logged into the Toolbar, just type the word or phrase you want to search for in the search box on the Toolbar, and either click the magnifying glass button or hit 'Enter' on your keyboard. You will automatically be directed to the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer search results page displaying the results of your search. A pop up message will confirm if you have completed a valid search eligible for earning a Qantas point and your point count in the Toolbar will reflect this.

How many Qantas Points can I earn for searches?
When the Toolbar is active (i.e. you are logged into the Toolbar using your QFF membership details) you will earn 1 Qantas Point for every valid search you perform through the Toolbar or the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search Page, up to a maximum of 150 points per calendar month.

Can I earn Qantas Points on searches when I'm using the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search Page?
Points can be earned through the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search page as follows:
1. After conducting a search directly through the Toolbar the results are displayed on the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search page. If you then conduct a subsequent valid search using the Bing Qantas Frequent Search panel instead of the Toolbar you are eligible to earn points; or
2. When installing the Toolbar and agreeing to Bing as your default search provider during the installation. In this case all searches conducted through the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search page are eligible to earn points.

Can I earn Qantas Points on searches originating from Bing such as Bing.com?
If you have elected to allow the Toolbar to set your default search settings to the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer search page, any valid searches originating from that page will be eligible to receive Qantas Points. You will not be eligible to earn points if you search directly from Bing and it was not set as your default search by the Toolbar.

If I change my default search provider from bing will I still earn Qantas Points?
You can still earn Qantas Points if Bing is not your default search provider, however in order to earn Qantas Points you must be logged into the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar and undertake a valid search through either the 'web search' box on the Toolbar or the Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search Page.

Will I still be able to receive the same quality search results that I do with my current search engine?
The Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar is powered by Bing, giving you the same relevant search results you would receive by going directly to Bing.com.

What is a valid search?
A valid search is a genuine search that is carried out through your normal, every-day search activity and not searches that are nonsensical or conducted via artificial, forced, mechanical, or automated methods. If your search is not deemed to be a valid search then you will be notified via a pop-up message.

When will Qantas Points earned from valid searches be added to my Qantas Frequent Flyer account?
Qantas Points will be credited to Qantas Frequent Flyer accounts shortly after the beginning of each calendar month for the previous month's valid searches.

I forgot to log into the Toolbar before commencing my searches, can I still make a claim for Qantas Points for valid searches?
No, in order to earn points you must be logged-in to the Toolbar at the time of searching.

If I use a shared computer and another user was logged into the Toolbar at the time of the search. Can I still earn Qantas Points for those searches?
No, the Member that is logged into the Toolbar at the time of the search will earn the points.

My Qantas Frequent Flyer statement isn't showing my Qantas points earned for valid searches. How can I query these points?
To submit a Qantas points enquiry, please click on the '?' button of the Toolbar and chose 'Contact Us'. From there, you can fill in the required information and we will respond to your query within 2 business days.
Alternatively, you can contact the Toolbar Service Centre on 1300 135 266, 8:30am-5:30pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, Monday to Friday (excluding national public holidays).

Will Qantas collect my search data?
Qantas will collect details of any search and web browsing from your use of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar and Bing Qantas Frequent Flyer Search Page when you are logged into the Toolbar. We will collect this data for the purpose of marketing targeted and relevant products, services and offers we think will be of interest to you.

Qantas will not disclose this data outside of the Qantas Group, including to any existing or potential business partners or affiliates.

How do I log out of the Toolbar?
Simply click the 'Log Out' button which is situated on the right hand side of the Toolbar. Remember to log back in if you wish to earn Qantas points for your valid searches.

During installation I received a message suggesting the Toolbar was corrupt.
Typically, if a browser relays a "corrupt installation" message it means your Antivirus software is blocking the Toolbar from setting the needed cookies for registration. To solve the problem, turn off all Antivirus software during installation and ensure the domain "freecause.com" is allowed within the settings.

My Toolbar doesn't show up in Internet Explorer.
Make sure that 3rd party extensions are also enabled. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> make sure the box next to "Enable third-party browser extensions*" is still checked.

I can't install the Toolbar!
If you are unable to install the Toolbar and are receiving strange errors, you may not have administrator privileges on your computer. Be sure that you are on the computer's administrator account when downloading the Toolbar. If you are still having problems, you may need to contact the computer's administrator and have them install the Toolbar.

I disabled the Toolbar and I can't work out how to re-display the Toolbar? To make the Toolbar display again on your web browser, follow these steps:
1. Selecting View
2. Select Toolbars
3. Select the Qantas item in the list.
4. A check means it is enabled and should be displayed and functional. No check is disabled and not visible

How do I uninstall the Toolbar?

To uninstall, click on the '?' button of the Toolbar and select the 'Uninstall' option.
If having done that you are still experiencing problems uninstalling the Toolbar, then follow these steps:

1. To uninstall in Chrome:
• From the Windows Start Menu select Control Panel
• Select Programs, or Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall a program depending upon which version of Windows you have.
• Select Qantas from the name list.
• Select the Uninstall/Change link at the top of the column

2. To uninstall in Internet Explorer:
• From the Windows Start Menu select Control Panel
• Select Programs, or Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall a program depending upon which version of Windows you have.
• Select Qantas from the name list.
• Select the Uninstall/Change link at the top of the column

3.To uninstall in Firefox:
• Go to the 'Tools' menu in Firefox
• Select "Add-ons"
• Click on the record for Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar and choose 'Remove'
• Click back into the "Add-on Manager" tab that is open in your browser
• Select 'Restart now' to ensure that the browser is removed

Can I have multiple Toolbars installed on my web browser?
Yes, in addition to having Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar installed, you can also have another toolbar installed from another provider. If you install another Toolbar following the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar download, you may need to ensure that your web browser settings are set to have the Toolbar displayed.

For Firefox and Internet Explorer, this can be done by clicking on the 'View' menu option and then selecting 'Toolbars'. From there you should see an option to select the Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar

Who should I contact if I am continuing to experience technical issues?
If you already have the Toolbar installed, please click on the '?' button and chose 'Contact Us', if you do not have the toolbar installed please email our Toolbar Service Centre using the form at http://freecause.force.com/support/QantasFeedback?toolid=104152 Alternatively, you can contact the Toolbar Service Centre on 1300 135 266, 8:30am-5:30pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, Monday to Friday (excluding national public holidays).

Who is Rakuten Loyalty?
Freecause Inc. (doing business as Rakuten Loyalty) is a U.S. based company that is providing the Toolbar technology on behalf of Qantas Frequent Flyer. Rakuten Loyalty will also operate the customer service centre on behalf of Qantas Frequent Flyer should you have any technical or points earning related queries.

What do I do if I've forgotten my Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number or PIN?
If you have forgotten your PIN, you can use our online Forgotten PIN service to obtain a new PIN. If you have forgotten your membership number, please contact the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre.
