The Basics

The Basics

Growing your points balance

You can earn Qantas Points when you fly, and earn on the ground as well, with Qantas Cash® and hundreds of partners. Once you've earned enough points, you have over 3,000 ways to use them at our online store, or you can use them for Award flights and Flight Upgrade Awards.

Membership from Bronze to Platinum

You start out as a Bronze Frequent Flyer. The more you fly, the higher your status, from Silver through Gold to Platinum. Higher status brings extra benefits like more points when you fly, priority check-in and Qantas Club membership.

Earn points on eligible flights and fares with Qantas and over 30 partner airlines and their affiliates (but please note that fare type and rate restrictions apply to the earning of points and Status credits on Jetstar, certain oneworld® Alliance airlines and partner airline flights).* You can also earn more points if you fly in Premium Economy, Business and First.

To make sure you're well rewarded when you fly Qantas, you're guaranteed to earn at least 1,000 points on even the shortest Qantas flight (applies for paid travel on an eligible flight with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the itinerary, except where operated by Jetstar).^

Use a card that lets you earn Qantas Points on your everyday spending and watch your points balance grow every month. It's a great way to earn points without flying!

A quick tip!

Earn on your everyday shopping at participating Woolworths Supermarkets, BIG W and BWS (excluding Tasmania). Earn with credit cards, hotel stays, car rentals, car sales and services, travel, mobile and broadband, entertainment, finance, business, real estate, the list goes on.

A quick tip!

How to get the best Award seat deal

To start, simply enter your destination and travel dates at qantas.com and select 'Search Flight'. The cash value for available non-Classic Award fares (commercial fares) will appear in the search results, and available Australian domestic Classic Award flights will also appear in the Classic Award column of the results page if your search includes only wholly Australian domestic flights. If you are searching for an international booking commencing in Australia, you will also be shown Classic Award options on Qantas, Jetstar and flights on selected partner airlines. If there is no Classic Award availability on the day you are searching, the Classic Award column will not be displayed. If you wish to view the full range of Classic Award options available online including multi-city bookings, oneworld® Classic Awards and bookings in mixed cabin-classes, then simply enter your flight details and ensure 'Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards' is selected before searching.

To view the commercial fares in points and book an Any Seat Award, simply select 'View in Points'.

You can also combine wholly Australian or international Qantas or Jetstar and selected partner airline Classic Awards with an Any Seat Award or cash fare in the same booking.# For example, you can choose a Classic Award for your flight out, and a cash fare for the flight back. Check the conditions that apply to these new combined bookings.β

How to holiday on points with our travel partners

You can use your points not only for flights, but at our online store for hotel stays, car rental, holiday packages, luggage and more.+

View full details.

Membership and points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions. The information set out at this webpage is current as at 25 September 2013 and may change from time to time. Full details and up to date information are available at qantas.com/frequentflyer.
* Fare type and route restrictions apply to the earning of points and Status credits on Jetstar and certain oneworld® Alliance Airlines and partner airlines flights.
^ Applies for paid travel on an eligible flight with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the itinerary.
± Classic Award seats are subject to capacity controls and availability is limited, particularly around peak times such as school and public holidays. Some flights may not have any Classic Award seats available. The ability to redeem taxes, fees and carrier charges for travel entirely within Australia and selected international flights (commencing in Australia) is only available when booking at qantas.com and ‘Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards' is not selected. For domestic New Zealand Classic Awards, the ability to redeem taxes, fees and carrier charges with Qantas Points is only available on qantas.com when the ‘Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards' checkbox is ticked before searching for flights. Classic Award seats must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advance booking requirements may apply), unless you are booking on qantas.com where you can book up to 2 hours before departure for domestic flights or up to 4 hours before departure for international flights. Applicable pricing will be displayed during the booking process on qantas.com. To find out more about Classic Awards, visit qantas.com/classicawards.
Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards are available on any flight with a QF or JQ flight number. As long as there is a seat available for sale, you can book an Any Seat Award. The points required for an Any Seat Award include taxes, fees and carrier charges (except any local airport fees or charges collected at the time of check-in), are subject to change and are quoted at the time of booking. Award flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure, unless you are booking on qantas.com where you can book up to 2 hours before departure for domestic flights or up to 4 hours before departure for international flights (some locations require earlier advance booking). Qantas Points may not be earned on some fare types or on some oneworld® alliance or airline partner flights. See the Airline Earning Table for eligible flights and earning classes. See qantas.com for more information and full terms and conditions.
Points Plus Pay allows you to choose the number of points you redeem above a specified minimum level and pay for the remainder of the fare with an approved payment card (including VISA, MasterCard or American Express) to obtain your Award. The minimum number of points required starts from 5,000 points per booking and is subject to change. A booking that includes non-Classic Award fares (commercial fares or Any Seat Awards) and a Classic Award is eligible for Points Plus Pay, however the minimum points required are equal to the points value of the Classic Award flight(s).
# The option to combine a wholly Australian domestic and international Qantas, Jetstar and selected airline partner Classic Awards departing from Australia with an Any Seat Award or a cash fare is only available when ‘Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards' has not been selected.
β When combining a Classic Award with another fare in a single booking, points and Status credits will not be earned on any Classic Award flights in the booking. If you combine Classic Awards with non-Classic Award fares (“Commercial Fares”), the most restrictive fare condition of those Commercial Fares apply to the segments booked as Classic Awards for booking changes, cancellations and refunds.  Please refer to the applicable Commercial Fare conditions for details.
+ Qantas Store products are for delivery in Australia and New Zealand only (and different products are available in each delivery location). Redemption of points for items through the online store is subject to terms and conditions (including the Store Terms of Use and voucher terms and conditions).
