Priority telephone service

Access priority telephone service in Australia, plus in many countries around the world, you can access Qantas Telephone Sales in Australia 24 hours using Freephone numbers. Find the number for Australia on the back of your Qantas card and your exclusive international priority numbers are listed in your Platinum privileges brochure.

A better International upgrade experience

Platinum members will have their successful International upgrade requests confirmed where possible from up to 48 hours prior to departure which is earlier than Gold, Silver and Bronze Frequent Flyers. Successful upgrades may be confirmed via SMS#.

Complimentary Advance Seat Selection with preferential seating

You can select your seat* from reserved zones within your booked cabin according to your Frequent Flyer status. Advance Seat Selection is at all times subject to availability of requested seats.

Seat selection is complimentary on Qantas operated domestic flights (excluding Qantas Link) and for Platinum Frequent Flyers on Qantas operated international flights, with a QF flight number on your ticket.

Preferred seating

When you make a booking in Premium Economy, Business or First, your seat will be allocated at the time of booking based on your seat preference in your Qantas Frequent Flyer profile. You can make changes to your seat using Advance Seat Selection.

If you make a booking in Economy, your seat preference will be allocated at the time of Check-in from remaining available seats unless you have already selected a seat using Advance Seat Selection or purchased an Exit Row Seat.

Your Seat Preference is stored in your Qantas Frequent Flyer profile.

Priority Economy seat purchase for up to two, including yourself

Priority Economy seat purchase is available when holding or purchasing a Full Economy ticket for up to two people, including the Platinum member. It is available on any Qantas operated flight with a Qantas flight number (excluding non-jet QantasLink services) for bookings made before midday on the day before travel^.

Preferential access to selected Qantas Classic Award seats

Qantas provides preferential access, when available, to selected Qantas Classic Award seats to Silver, Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers. On selected flights, preferential access for Gold and Platinum members may be above the access available to Silver and Bronze members+.

*Advance Seat Selection (with preferential seating) is at all times subject to availability of requested seats. Complimentary Advance Seat Selection is available on domestic and international Qantas operated flights with a Qantas flight number (QF1-199 for international and QF400-1349 for domestic, excluding QantasLink) immediately after completing your booking up until 3 hours before your scheduled departure. Seat requests cannot be guaranteed due to operational, safety and security requirements.

+ Qantas & Partner Classic Award seat availability is limited and some flights may not have any Classic Award seats available.
# SMS notification of a confirmed Qantas International Flight Upgrade Award is available only to Qantas Frequent Flyers who are travelling on the upgraded segment, and who have a valid Australian mobile telephone number in their membership profile. Some members may not receive SMS notification due to operational reasons.

Priority check-in

As a Platinum Frequent Flyer you have access to a range of check-in options regardless of your class of travel:

  • Domestic: Check in at the Q Card Reader, Premium Service Desks, in Domestic Business Lounges or at Qantas Club lounges.
  • International: Check in at First check-in suites in Sydney and Melbourne, or at any First counter. You may also use Business counters where no First counters are available.
  • Or choose to check in online or use mobile or kiosk check-in where available.

Faster, Smarter Check-in

Streamline your check-in using your new 'intelligent Q' chip enabled Qantas card at a Q Card Reader at selected domestic airports and for Trans-Tasman direct flights between Sydney and Auckland or Wellington. Your Qantas card can also be used as your boarding pass, no matter how you choose to check in.

Make bag drop even faster with Q Bag Tags

Platinum Frequent Flyers receive complimentary Q Bag Tags. These stylish tags designed by Marc Newson, eliminate the need for paper bag tags on the domestic network. Featuring smart chip technology, Q Bag Tags automatically link your baggage with your flight details at the new Bag Drop facility at selected domestic airports.

Priority baggage on Qantas, regardless of your class of travel

Your bags are tagged Business on domestic flights and First on international flights on Qantas operated jet flights with a QF flight number on your ticket when a Business cabin (domestic) or a First cabin (international) is offered.

Generous extra checked baggage allowance

Take advantage of extra checked baggage allowance on most Qantas flights when travelling in economy or premium economy~.

Access premium security lanes

At selected domestic and international airports you can fast track through security and go straight to your Lounge or on to your flight.

  • Domestic: Available weekdays during peak periods in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney (T3) domestic airports
  • International: Where this facility is available you will be provided with an Express Path card at check-in.

On departure upgrade requests for domestic flights in Australia

Use points to request an upgrade± to Business at any Qantas Club lounge up to three hours (but not less than 25 minutes) before departure on selected Australian domestic Qantas flights and selected domestic legs of Qantas international flights.

Complimentary membership of The Qantas Club and other lounge access privileges

Relax or catch up on work in any Qantas Club, International First or Domestic Business Lounge when travelling on Qantas, Jetstar Airlines or oneworld alliance airline flight. Plus access associated lounges when flying Qantas or access oneworld airline lounges around the world when flying on a oneworld alliance airline^.

First Lounge

Available in Sydney and Melbourne. Designed by Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson, the Lounges offer a range of facilities including a day spa, restaurant, library, private work suites and concierge service. When visiting a First Lounge you may bring one guest, who must also be travelling.

Domestic Business Lounges

Available in Sydney T3, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. When visiting a Domestic Business Lounge you may bring two guests. Guests do not need to be travelling.

Domestic Lounge access on arrival

As a Platinum Frequent Flyer you can access Domestic Business Lounges or The Qantas Club upon arrival if you have travelled that day on any flight that shows a Qantas, a Jetstar Airline or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket.^ You may also bring two guests, who do not need to be travelling.

Important information:

* You must be over 18 years of age to access any lounge if not accompanied by an adult.
^ To access Qantas Domestic lounges, Platinum Members must be travelling on any flight the same day that shows Qantas (QF), a Jetstar Airline (Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) or Valuair (VF) or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket. To access Qantas International lounges, a Platinum Member's next onward flight that day must show a Qantas (QF), a Jetstar Airline (Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K), Valuair (VF) or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket. Other lounge access conditions apply. See Qantas Club Terms and Conditions.

100% points bonus

Earn a Status bonus of 100% more points calculated on the base Economy rate every time you fly on eligible flights with a Qantas, Jetstar, British Airways (for travel until 30 March 2013)* or American Airlines flight number on your ticket.

A choice of rewards when you reach 2,400 Status credits

If you have not already nominated complimentary Gold membership for your partner, when you reach 2,400 Status credits^^ in one membership year, you have the choice of one of the following rewards

  • complimentary Gold membership for a family member or friend or
  • three complimentary Qantas Valet Parking or Chauffeured Transfer invitations++ or
  • a bonus of 50,000 Qantas Points

oneworld benefits

Platinum Frequent Flyers enjoy oneworld Emerald status

So when you fly oneworld you'll enjoy privileges like preferred seating, priority check-in, and access to oneworld alliance airline Business and First lounges.

Other program benefits

  • Loyalty Bonus of 8,000 points for every 500 Status credits earned on eligible Qantas or partner airline flights within a single membership year - up to a maximum of four Loyalty Bonuses per membership year. Please note that from 1 July 2013, only Status credits earned from flights with a QF flight number (including partner airline flights with a QF flight number) will contribute to the Status credits calculation for the Loyalty Bonus. Tier qualification and retention requirements will remain unchanged. At the end of your membership year, Status credit balances relating to the calculation of the Loyalty Bonus will be reset to zero.
  • Minimum Points Guarantee of at least 1,000 points for every eligible Qantas and Jetstar flight##. We are making some changes to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program which will affect these benefits for travel on or after 1 July 2014. View full details.
* For travel from 31 March 2013, Status bonus will be removed from British Airways flights (with a BA flight number on your ticket).
^^ Status credits are earned on eligible Qantas, oneworld Alliance airlines, Fiji Airways and Jetstar Airlines (limited to Starter Plus, Starter Max and Business Max fares only) services, but please note that fare type and route restrictions may apply. See Airline Earning Table for details.
++ Qantas Valet Parking can only be used at participating Qantas Valet Parking locations in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney (Terminal 3) domestic terminals. ## Applies to eligible flights and fares with a QF or JQ flight number on your ticket

Priority Privileges

Our partnership with Emirates gives you more flights and choice. As a Platinum Frequent Flyer, you can enjoy additional privileges when you fly with Emirates* between and within Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Australia.

When you travel as a Qantas Platinum Frequent Flyer member (with your Frequent Flyer number in your Emirates booking), your Platinum status will be recognised, providing you with access to the following benefits when you fly with Emirates.

Priority Check-in

You can check in at Emirates First Class Check-in (where available), regardless of your class of travel. Ensure your Platinum membership number is in your booking and show your Platinum Qantas card when you check in.

Priority Boarding

Access to the Priority Boarding lane (where available) when you board your Emirates flight.

Priority Waitlist/Airport Standby

On fares which allow you to waitlist or standby at the airport, you'll receive priority over Gold, Silver and Bronze Qantas Frequent Flyers whenever you're waitlisted to travel on Emirates.

Additional Checked Baggage Allowance

You'll receive priority baggage plus an additional 20kg of checked allowance, on top of the allowance you receive as part of your fare.

Express Immigration

Where available you can access express immigration on departure and arrival.

Lounge Access

Access for you plus one guest and up to two children to Emirates Lounges throughout Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East, whenever you fly with Emirates. In Dubai, you can enjoy the luxurious Emirates First Lounge and in other airports, the Emirates Lounges.

Important Information:

* To access Platinum benefits on Emirates flights, you must have your Platinum Frequent Flyer membership number in your booking and you must be flying onward that day on a flight operated by Emirates with an EK or QF flight number on your ticket.

Platinum One

To reach Platinum One status, we require a minimum of 3,600 Status credits~ to be earned, with a minimum of 2,700 earned on Qantas marketed flights (that is, with a QF flight number on your ticket)*each Qantas Frequent Flyer membership year. To earn this many Status credits, you're spending a great deal of time at airports and in the air and we want to make every part of your Platinum One experience the best it can be.
