About Qantas & Partner Classic Awards

About Qantas & Partner Classic Awards

Qantas & Partner Classic Awards are the same Award Flights you've always had access to on Qantas and eligible Partner airlines, they just have a new name.

The number of Qantas & Partner Classic Award seats is limited and depends on flight, date, season and destination. Some flights may not have any Classic Award seats available.

Seats on Qantas flights available as Classic Awards may alternatively be obtained through the Qantas Any Seat Award booking process as a Qantas Any Seat Award although different points (which include surcharges, fees and taxes) and conditions may apply.+

How Many Points Do You Need?

You can book your Qantas & Partner Classic Award online. Or you can call Award flight reservations. An Assisted Award booking fee applies for Award bookings made or completed worldwide via a consultant.

Bookings for most Qantas & Partner Classic Awards can be made as late as 24 hours before scheduled departure (some locations and fares require earlier advance booking).

Qantas & Partner Classic Award seat availability is limited and some flights may not have any available, so we recommend you book well in advance.

Multi-destination Itineraries

The number of points you need for a Qantas & Partner Classic Award flight is calculated by adding up the one-way trips in your itinerary. There are no points charges for stopovers or for any non-flown (surface) segments. Your itinerary may have no more than 16 flights or surface segments. However, if the total distance of a single trip is over 15,000 miles, the trip must be broken down into sub-trips in order to calculate the number of points you need.

Service Fees

For a list of Frequent Flyer service fees see terms and conditions.

Assisted Award Booking Fee

All Qantas & Partner Classic Award bookings made or completed worldwide through a consultant will attract an Assisted Award booking fee of 2,500 points per passenger per booking. Alternatively, the Assisted Award Booking fee can be paid in cash when booking through Qantas Telephone Sales in Australia or New Zealand. The service fee applies regardless of your Frequent Flyer status and to children and infants occupying a seat.

This fee applies only to making the initial booking. Other service fees and charges apply to changes and cancellations. The fee is non-refundable.

To avoid the service fee, you can book Qantas & Partner Classic Award flights online, or in Australia for Australian domestic Award flights, use the Qantas Voice system when you call Qantas Telephone Sales. Should you begin a domestic booking in Australia using the Qantas Voice system and exit to a consultant before you complete the booking, you will also attract the fee.

A fee will apply to all other Qantas & Partner Classic Award flights as they can only be booked through a consultant.

Surcharges, fees and taxes

Additional surcharges, fees and taxes (including applicable taxes and insurance surcharges) are payable in cash on Qantas & Partner Classic Award flights at the time of booking. These taxes and charges may be subject to GST. Alternatively when booking online, point levels inclusive of surcharges, fees and taxes (including applicable fuel and insurance surcharges) are offered during the Qantas & Partner Classic Award booking process on eligible Australian and New Zealand domestic Classic Award flights.

Australian GST is not charged on the Qantas Frequent Flyer points you earn or redeem on goods and services provided through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. This information applies to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program only and does not reflect the GST policy of other loyalty programs.

Changing Your Qantas & Partner Classic Award

See the Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions for information on changing your Qantas & Partner Classic Award.

Refunds

There are no refunds on the points redeemed for Qantas & Partner Classic Award flights once your travel has commenced.

Qantas & Partner Classic Award Availability

We recognise that the availability of seats for Award flights is very important to our Frequent Flyers. However, the number of Qantas & Partner Classic Awards is limited. The number of seats available for a Classic Award depends on the flight, date, season and destination. Some flights may not have any Classic Award seats available.+

See Award flight opportunities for details of current Classic Award availability on flights for certain routes.

The seats made available for Classic Awards on Qantas flights may also be obtained through the Qantas Any Seat Award booking process (although points required are higher, and include surcharges, fees and taxes). This allows Members to combine fares, consolidate fees and book all seats within the one booking. Different conditions apply to Any Seat Awards. Members can still choose to obtain those seats as Classic Awards in a separate booking.

Note: Award seats are not available on some routes of oneworld alliance and partner airlines and some restrictions may apply.

Should your desired Classic Award not be available, check again as additional seats may be released closer to departure. Or, check for a Qantas Any Seat Award on flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number or a Jetstar Any Seat Award for Jetstar flights with a Jetstar (JQ) flight number. Points required for Any Seat Awards will vary and are not linked to retail fares. They are generally higher than Classic Awards, especially when demand is high. Particular itineraries may be available as more than one Award type (ie Qantas & Partner Classic Awards, Qantas Any Seat Awards and Jetstar Any Seat Awards). Points required for each Award Type may be different and each may have different fare conditions. The booking process for each Award Type is separate from the others and so we recommend you consider and compare each of the Award Type booking options before you finalise your booking.
