|What can be booked?||You can use your points to book available seats on eligible flights^ on Qantas, Jetstar, oneworld® alliance and other airline partners and affiliates.*|
|Who can I book for?||You can redeem for yourself or any eligible family member|
|Will I earn Qantas points and Status credits?||No, you will not earn Qantas Points and Status credits when flying on a Classic Award.

|How many points are required?|
|Does the points redemption amount include taxes, fees and carrier charges?||• No. For Classic Award flights, taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable in addition to the points required, are subject to change and are quoted at the time of booking.≠ However, Qantas Point levels inclusive of taxes, fees and carrier charges are offered on eligible wholly Australian and New Zealand domestic and selected international (departing Australia) Classic Awards.|
|Can Points Plus Pay be used?||Not for most Classic Awards, with the exception of travel entirely within Australia and selected international fares departing from Australia where the minimum points required are equal to the value of the Classic Award flight(s). There is, however, a second type of Award you can book called 'Any Seat Awards' that allow you to use Points Plus Pay with a minimum of 5,000 points.* Find out more.|
|Can I request a Flight Upgrade Award?||Classic Award seats cannot be upgraded to a different class. Find out more about using points to request a Flight Upgrade Award on eligible flights.|
|How far in advance can I book?||Bookings can be made up to 353 days in advance and up to 24 hours before scheduled departure, unless you are booking on qantas.com where you can book up to 2 hours before departure for domestic flights or up to 4 hours before departure for international flights. Some locations require earlier advance booking.|
|How many seats are available?||Availability is limited, especially during peak times such as school and public holidays. Some flights may not have any Classic Award seats available.+
Tip: If your chosen Classic Award is not available check again later as additional seats may be released closer to departure. Or, try booking an Any Seat Award flight (different points may be required and separate conditions apply).
|Can I cancel a booking?||For Classic Awards, you can cancel your booking and request a refund of points redeemed prior to commencing travel however a Cancellation Refund Fee applies. There are no refunds of the points redeemed for Classic Award flights once your travel has commenced. Note: In accordance with the US Department of Transportation rules, customers who purchase an Award ticket in the United States may cancel their booking and have their ticket refunded without incurring the Cancellation Refund Fee within 24 hours of ticketing when the ticket was purchased one week or more prior to scheduled departure of the first flight in the itinerary.
|Can I change my booking?||You can alter your booking online at Manage Your Booking.**Changes to a Classic Award will incur a Change Fee in points and may require the payment of additional points as well as any difference in the taxes, fees and carrier charges. For more information, please see the terms and conditions.
If you combine Classic Awards with non-Classic Award fares (“Commercial Fares”), the most restrictive fare condition of those Commercial Fares applies to the segments booked as Classic Awards for booking changes. These bookings can only be changed by Qantas Contact Centres. Service fees may apply.
Tip: If you used a credit card to pay for taxes, fees and carrier charges be sure to have it handy when making changes, as you'll be required to cover any differences with your original payment method.
|What are the booking and fare conditions?||Applicable fare conditions are provided at the time of booking. We recommend that you review the applicable fare conditions at the time of booking, as booking and fare conditions will vary. You can check the conditions of your booking at Your Bookings.|
|Are there other Award flight options?||Yes, there is a second type of Award flight you can book called ‘Any Seat Awards’. The number of Qantas Points required for an Any Seat Award or Classic Award for the same itinerary may be different. Find out more.|
How to Book a Qantas & Partner Classic Award
- You can book up to 24 hours before scheduled departure (though some locations require earlier advance booking , unless you are booking on qantas.com where you can book up to 2 hours before departure for domestic flights or up to 4 hours before departure for international flights.
- There are two ways to book a Qantas & Partner Classic Award flight on qantas.com:
Option 1: Perfect for browsing cash and Classic Award fares on a single results page. Use this option when searching for:
- wholly domestic Australian Classic Awards on Qantas or Jetstar;
- international Classic Awards departing Australia on Qantas and Jetstar (one-way or return only);
- combining# a Classic Award with a cash fare or Any Seat Awardβ; or
- when you want the option to use points for taxes, fees and carrier charges.
Step 1: Log in at qantas.com and select your destination, dates and travel class and select 'Search Flight', making sure "Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards" is not selected.
Step 2: Classic Award availability, for Qantas (QF) and Jetstar (JQ) and eligible partner airline flights, will appear as a seat icon in the Classic Awards column on the Select page. Available flights will display a seat icon in the Classic Award column.
Note: Searching for Classic Awards via Option 1 may not deliver all of the Classic Award options available to you on a particular itinerary. If your search results deliver little or no Classic Award availability or you are searching for flights on a route that we offer codeshare flights, we recommend that you search again following the instructions for Option 2 to see all options available to you on qantas.com.
Option 2: Great for when you want to see all Classic Award options on qantas.com and you don't need to see cash fares on the same screen. Use this option when you want to search for:
- international Classic Awards on Qantas and over 35 partner airlines for greater global network options;
- domestic Classic Awards on Qantas, Jetstar and our domestic partner airlines;
- oneworld Classic Awards;
- multi-city or multi-cabin Classic Awards; or
- when you want the option to use points for taxes, fees and carrier charges for wholly domestic New Zealand travel.
Step 1: Log in at qantas.com and select your destination and dates. Select the 'Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards' checkbox then select 'Search Flight'.
Step 2: Select the flights you want from the range of Classic Awards available to you online.
Note: When booking Classic Awards in this way you are unable to combine them with a cash fare or Any Seat Award, or use points for taxes, fees and carrier charges. If you want to combine a Classic Award with a cash fare or Any Seat Award refer to search Option 1 (above).

* Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards are available on any flight with a QF or JQ flight number. As long as there is a seat available for sale, you can book a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award. The points required for an Any Seat Award include taxes, fees and carrier charges (except any local airport fees or charges collected at the time of check-in) are subject to change, are variable and only valid when quoted at the time of booking. Award flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advance booking requirements may apply). unless you are booking on qantas.com where you can book up to 2 hours before departure for domestic flights or up to 4 hours before departure for international flights. ~ Bookings made or completed with the help of a consultant attract a 6,000-point fee per person (including children and infants occupying a seat) per booking for international bookings. A 3,500-point fee applies for all other bookings. If booking through Qantas Contact Centres in Australia or New Zealand the fee may be paid with money. This non-refundable fee applies only when making the initial booking. See the terms and conditions for details.
≠ The taxes, fees and carrier charges can be paid by using an Accepted Payment Card.
# The option to combine a wholly Australian domestic and international Qantas, Jetstar and selected airline partner Classic Award departing from Australia with an Any Seat Award or a cash fare is only available when ’Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards' has not been selected.
