This month the Qantas Socceroos will debut in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, which takes place in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia from 2 July to 29 July 2007.
Australia's move from the Oceania Football Confederation to the Asian Football Confederation was an important change for football, giving the Qantas Socceroos steady competition and vital preparation for the road to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The team commenced their preparations for Asia's premier football event last month with two international friendly games against Uruguay and Singapore.
After playing matches against Oman, Iraq and Thailand in their Asian Cup Group Stages, the Qantas Socceroos have advanced to the Quarter Finals. They will now face Japan on Saturday 21 July in a re-match of their World Cup Debut in 2006.
