The third season of the A-League kicks into the Finals Series on 25 January 2008 when the top four teams battle it out for a place in the Grand Final, to find out who will be crowned the 2008 A-League Champions on 24 February 2008. The winning club also gains entry to the 2009 AFC Champions League, Asia's premier club football competition. With so much at stake, the action is guaranteed to be exciting!
2007 was an action-packed year for the Qantas Socceroos with blockbuster matches against South American giants Uruguay and Argentina, as well as the teams' debut in the Asian Cup where they reached the quarter finals.
2008 will mark the start of the Qantas Socceroos campaign to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The team will start their qualification road with newly appointed coach Pim Verbeek on 6 February 2008 when they take on Qatar at Melbourne's Telstra Dome. Grouped alongside Asian champions Iraq, China and Qatar, the Qantas Socceroos have an action-packed calendar on their road to South Africa.

Qantas is a proud supporter of football in Australia and wish all the teams the best of luck.
The Australian Football League (AFL) matches are played in every state and territory in Australia and boasts the nation's biggest sporting attendances.
In 2007 7.05 million people attended AFL matches.
There are 16 clubs which play 22 rounds from late March to August. The finals series is played in September and the AFL Grand Final is played on the last Saturday in September at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Qantas AFL Kickstart Camp is an annual event held in Melbourne giving fifty indigenous youths, aged between 14 and 15, the opportunity of a lifetime. The talented young players are personally selected by AFL State Development Officers across Australia. The camp teaches participants skills which help them reach their goals. They also meet and learn from role models such as Cathy Freeman and Michael Long.
Qantas is the official airline of the AFL and is the naming rights sponsor of the Qantas AFL Kickstart program as well as the Qantas Indigenous All Stars team. Qantas has been a proud partner of the AFL for over five years.
The Australian Olympic Committee is committed to Australia's athletes and encourages the development of high performance sport through athlete support and funding initiatives. Our role also extends to spreading the Olympic spirit and ideals throughout the wider community, even in the years between Olympic Games.
It is AOC's responsibility to select, send and fund Australian Teams to the Olympic Summer and Winter Games.
The AOC is also committed to the education of Australia's youth through programs including the a.s.p.i.r.e. school network, the annual Pierre de Coubertin Awards and State & National Australian Olympic Academies.
The Australian Youth Olympic Festival is an initiative of the AOC held bi-annually as a legacy of the Sydney 2000 Games. The fourth Australian Youth Olympic Festival was held in Sydney from 17 to 21 January 2007, featuring 1600 athletes from around the world competing in 16 Olympic sports.
The AOC has committed a 25% increase, from $3 million to $4 million, in funding for the 2009 and 2011 Festivals.

In the short history of the Hyundai A-League, Sydney FC has notched up an impressive list of credentials. This includes winning the inaugural Hyundai A-League Grand Final, qualifying for the Club World Championships and the AFC Asian Champions League 2007, and competing in consecutive A-League finals series.
Off the field, over 333,000 spectators attended Sydney FC matches at Aussie Stadium in its first two seasons, excluding the finals series.
On the playing side, defender Mark Milligan was a member of the historic FIFA World Cup squad that competed in the 2006 Finals in Germany. Mark and fellow defender Jacob Timpano are also members of the Qantas U23 squad to compete in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The AFC Champions League involves 29 clubs from 15 countries competing against each other and the winner will score a place in the FIFA Club World Cup. In a game about goals, successfully representing Australia in Asia is the big one after the Hyundai A-League season concludes, giving young players one more reason to aspire to play for and support Sydney.
Tennis Australia has been the national governing body for the sport in Australia for over 100 years and is responsible for helping to grow and promote tennis from grassroots to elite level. Tennis Australia works with eight (state/territory) Member Associations who are responsible for implementing its initiatives.
Due to its popularity among men and women, both young and old, and its general accessibility to most people in our country, tennis enjoys one of the highest participation rates of any sport in Australia.
Tennis Australia organises a wide range of events throughout the year, from amateur Talent ID days and junior competitions through to elite-level Futures and AO Series tournaments, which include the Medibank International (Sydney), Next Generation Adelaide International, Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts (Gold Coast) and the Moorilla Hobart International.

Tennis Australia also stages the first Grand Slam event of each calendar year, the Australian Open. In 2007 the tournament saw a record 554,858 patrons attend, and a record 4.7 million unique users For information on all activities and events visit the Australian Open website. The 2008 tournament, the 96 staging of the event, will see players competing for the highest prize-pool in the tournament's history, a total of A$20,600,000. Winners of the singles events will each take home a paycheque of A$1,370,000, up almost A$100,000 from 2007.
As a not for profit organisation, Tennis Australia re-invests the proceeds from its tennis operations into development of the game.
