Direct Entry Pilot

Qantas Trainee Second Officer positions are subject to continual review in response to the changing aviation environment.

The current global financial conditions have required Qantas to announce a set of decisive measures to deal with the current crisis. As such, Trainee Second Officer Recruitment has been suspended indefinitely.

Letters of Intent Holders have been contacted directly in relation to this change. Letter of Intent Holders are advised to contact Pilot Recruitment immediately if they have not received this formal communication.

All future Trainee Second Officer positions will be listed on the Qantas Careers Website.

New candidates, or those who have previously attended testing, will be required to submit an online application and undergo all recruitment stages. Please note however that Qantas Mainline will not be seeking new or updated applications for the foreseeable future.

The current state of the industry is extremely challenging, with no recognisable signs of recovery at present. Pilot Recruitment will provide a further update on the status of Qantas Pilot Recruitment in the first quarter of the 2010 calendar year.

QantasLink Pilots

A career as a QantasLink pilot is extremely rewarding and fulfilling.

QantasLink offers successful applicants an exciting and challenging flying career with Australia's leading regional carrier in a two crew turbo-prop RPT operation.

Starting as a First Officer, our pilots become instantly and actively involved in our dynamic operation. Taking control of some of the most sophisticated regional aircraft, our pilots are responsible for ensuring our passengers the best customer experience and safety.

The ongoing training we provide is of the highest standard and is highly regarded around the aviation industry. It is designed to ensure our impeccable safety record is maintained whilst developing our pilots to their full potential. Opportunities to expand our pilot's skills and experience are always encouraged. In exchange for hard work and commitment, we provide pilots with both personal and career developments. These include, but are not limited to, command upgrades, training and checking positions as well as opportunities to move into regulatory and compliance roles within Flight Operations.

Given the nature of regional flying, QantasLink also offers a lifestyle that caters to all needs. The large variety of duties available offer pilots a flexible working environment with the ability to work throughout our extensive network which is always expanding into new and exciting destinations.

Although QantasLink is a large company who's network covers a vast number of destinations over many states, every pilot becomes part of our close knit team. Every member within this team is valued for their contribution to our company's visions and values.

QantasLink Pilot Trainee Program

QantasLink is Australia's premier regional airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Qantas Group operating air services across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.

QantasLink in 2008 commenced a Trainee program for pilots who have completed their Commercial Pilot Licence, but do not meet the QantasLink Direct Entry minimum experience criteria.

Once a Pilot has completed the QantasLink Pilot Trainee Program, they will be eligible to apply for a position within QantasLink as a First Officer.
