Group Flight Training
Group Flight Training

Qantas Group Flight Training (QGFT) offers customers its expertise and facilities for operational training.

The expertise of our pilots and flight attendants has contributed greatly to our international reputation for safety. QGFT instructs, develops and examines the proficiency of over 10,000 crew each year.

QGFT provides high level practical and theoretical training in dedicated facilities. Operationally experienced and highly qualified instructors are used for operational training and are available as training advisers. All courses can be designed to suit Customer specific requirements.

QGFT holds regulatory accreditation from a number of regional nations. This accreditation allows Customer airlines and other individuals seeking professional airline training, to train at a Training Centre with regulatory compliance.

Pilot Training

Pilot Training

QGFT provides pilot training and aircraft type endorsement courses to Customer Airlines as well as to individuals seeking qualification in preparation for a career in the air transport industry. Courses have a technical component, followed by quality training in full flight simulators located in QGFT Centres. QGFT uses instructional staff with operational expertise gained from operations within the Qantas Group of Airlines.

Ground school

With facilities that include fixed base simulators and computer based training, our 'Ground School' component is one of the most comprehensive in the industry. The interface, with highly skilled ground training professionals ensures a comprehensive knowledge of systems and processes that prepare the trainees for the flight simulator phase of type endorsement training.

Flight simulators

Our simulators have state of the art visual fidelity, motion and sound that allow crew to be trained in all aspects of normal and non-normal operations; including instrument approaches and landings in all weather conditions. QGFT has the most advanced fleet of full motion flight simulators available in Australia. Dedicated on-site maintenance support ensures that training and checking are carried out around the clock.

Emergency Procedures Training

Emergency Procedures Training

QGFT trains flight and cabin crew to handle emergency situations in the air, in both wide and narrow-bodied aircraft.

Self-paced theoretical modules take place in multimedia learning centres, while practical tuition covers the control and operation of emergency exits, fire fighting, security and the evacuation of passengers. Our large indoor pools host realistic training for ditching emergencies using life rafts and aqua survival equipment.

Human Factors Training

Human Factors Training

Within the aviation industry it is well established that lapses in human performance underlay the majority of incidents and accidents. To improve safety, the Qantas Group has embraced human factors courses to modify autonomous behaviour and attitude by improving problem solving skills using communication, leadership, decision making and teamwork.

QGFT runs these courses throughout the year at all of our flight training locations and has the ability to bring the training to the Customer Airline location if required. In addition, QGFT can provide instruction in the skills necessary for Human Factor instruction (Train the Trainer).
