Let us assist you

People First, Safety Always

Your decision to fly with Qantas means a great deal to us. Which is why we are here to offer you our Special Assistance experience from the second you arrive at our check-in counters.

Check-in Times

Passengers with a mobility aid should check-in:

Passengers who take their mobility aid to the departure gate must be at the departure gate:

Arrivals

If you are arriving on one of our flights, our staff will meet you at the aircraft, and then transfer you to your mobility aid within the Terminal.

General

Certain conditions do require medical clearance for fitness to travel. To access more information on this, please visit qantas.com or call your local Qantas office.

Your patience is appreciated in situations where our staff need to confirm or clarify any of your details.

Under Australian Occupational Health and Safety legislation and in an effort to follow the safest approved procedures, our staff are trained in the use of four (4) Qantas approved Handling Aids. To protect both our staff and you, these are the only Handling Aids they are certified to use. If your preference is to be transferred using an alternative method, our staff will be unable to assist with such a transfer because it is not a Qantas approved method.

In the interest of making your trip with us as comfortable as possible, we will be assisting you today in your transfer process, to and from the aircraft.

We would like to ask you some questions to assess your physical capabilities, as this will help us to assist you.

Where lifting is required the Eagle 2 or 3 Hoist will be used in all airports, where it is available. Where the Eagle Hoist is not available at least one or a combination of the Sling, Slide Board and/or Jony Belt will be used in the transfer.

The four (4) Qantas approved Handling Aids are not available at overseas airports. The transfer process at overseas airports may vary.
