Perth is one of Australia's most scenic cities it has both
a rugged and beautiful outback to discover and is home to
spectacular long white beaches, World Heritage listed national
parks, beautiful ancient forests and world renowned winery
regions. The beaches from Perth stretch from Cottesloe Beach
to Lancelin where sand-boarding is the craze and surfing is
a popular pastime. The hardest part is deciding- there is
plenty to do in Western Australia’s capital. |

Although spring (September to November) and autumn (March
to May) are the most pleasant times to visit, one can expect
sizzling summers (December to February) and chilly winters (June
to August). The average daily maximum temperatures in summer
of 31°C and in winter 18°C. |

Shopping
Is the hustle bustle of a market place your idea of shopping, or are
the chic fashions of designer boutiques more your style? Perth caters
for those born to shop or the casual souvenir seeker.
Food
Boasting more restaurants per head of population than any other Australian
city, Perth loves to go out to eat and meet. Try Cottesloe Beach for
casual eats or Subiaco for a more dressed-up style. Sumptuous seafood
delights are never far away. Perth’s selection of fine dining
and chic beachside cafes cater to all sorts of marine cuisines including
reef fish, crabs and crayfish. There are also award-winning wineries
that offer alfresco and restaurant meals and cellar door tastings.
Dine out at the cafe strips of the trendy inner city suburbs of Subiaco
or Leederville, or head over to Northbridge or to Burswood Casino
for a night on the town.
Entertainment
The city has lots of buzz with an eclectic nightlife scene and a sporty
atmosphere.
- A day trip to beautiful Rottnest Island is a must. Cycle the
island or snorkel the reefs for a great day out.
- Perth is famous for its kilometres of unspoilt beaches, enjoy
beautiful sunsets and water based activities such as swimming,
sailing, surfing and diving.
- Take a leisurely cruise on the Swan River down to Fremantle
or up to the Swan Valley. A great way to see this beautiful
river city.
- For a night out, the Northbridge area teems with life and
great restaurants.
- Visit Kings Park Botanic Gardens.
Fremantle
Just 20 minutes drive south of Perth city, the colourful port of Fremantle
is alive with cafes, bars and boutiques, and will often boast lively
street entertainment. Being a working fishing boat harbour, Fremantle
is also famous for its fresh seafood and now offers a new Maritime
Museum overlooking the port. Not to be missed are the popular markets
filled with arts, crafts and curios, open Friday, Saturday, Sunday
and public holidays.
Swan Valley
Under an hour's drive from Perth, the Swan Valley is Western Australia's
oldest wine growing region. It is home to a number of award-winning
wineries, many of which offer cellar-door tastings and sales, outdoor
cafes and restaurant dining. The Swan Valley also boasts the internationally
acclaimed 36-hole golf course 'The Vines', as well as art, craft
and antique galleries, and fabulous local gourmet produce stores.
Margaret River and the South West
About a three-hour drive from Perth, the South West boasts an incredible
array of delightful attractions. Spend a day wine tasting at some
of the world's best wineries or enjoy a sumptuous meal at one of
the many restaurants with fabulous scenic views. Take time out to
explore the magnificent old growth Karri forests and the incredible
limestone caves that are scattered through the region. Walk along
a secluded beach or go surfing at one of the finest surf beaches
in the world. The area is also a haven for artists and is home to
many fine art galleries. For those who enjoy a spot of fishing,
this area is hard to match, particularly along the Augusta coast
and Busselton Jetty the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere.
