Logistics, planning and scheduling within Qantas brings into play dealing with a wide variety of operational areas. As a member of our logistics team this provides you an opportunity to work in a broad spectrum of related fields and move across different business segments.
From developing the schedule our customer's see when they book a flight to making sure that each flight has the pilots, cabin crew, catering, airport and engineering support they need, our logistics professionals help to make us one of the world's most successful airlines.
While business or quantitative qualifications are highly valued but not essential it's your ability to identify and implement solutions to what are often complex problems that will provide the basis for your career success with us. We offer merit-based progression and the training required to work in each of our specialist areas. These include:
- Network - responsible for developing aircraft schedules that are attractive to customers, able to be operated reliably and make a profit
- Cabin Crew and Flight Crew Planning - developing roster patterns for crews to operate the schedule, balancing cost control and award and safety requirements
- Integrated Operations Centre - professionals from many different logistics areas specialise in adapting operations to react to unplanned issues such as weather or unserviceable aircraft
- Catering - planning meals to meet quality and price standards for Qantas and other airlines in the right quantities at the right time
- Engineering Supply Chain -purchasing and logistics professionals working together to provide the support our operations require with maximum cost efficiency
- Airports - managing the movements of a fleet of over 100 aircraft and many thousands of passengers and their luggage every day through our many airport terminal operations nationally and internationally
- Freight - managing the many movements of airfreight across our passenger and dedicated cargo services
