Under the Direct Entry Scheme, Qantas employs Trainee Second Officers who perform an essential role as part of the Qantas operating crew on our international services. At present Second Officers perform critical duties on our Boeing 747-400, and Airbus 330 and 380 aircraft.
The Direct Entry Scheme draws upon experience from a wide range of aviation sectors including major international and Australian airlines, the Royal Australian Air Force, general aviation, and the Qantas Cadet Pilot Program. It is this varied experience that ensures the continued success of the Direct Entry Scheme.
