Check-in

Your journey through the airport is easier than ever
It's All About Check-in

With Qantas you can check in at home, on your mobile and at the airport. And now, rolling out across the domestic network, check-in will come to you through Auto Check-in.

Auto Check-in

Check-in comes to you

Auto Check-in has started rolling out across the Qantas domestic network.

If you're on a flight with Auto Check-in and you are a single passenger, we'll send you an SMS or email in the lead up to your departure. Follow the link to confirm your seats and access your boarding passes on your preferred device.

Make sure you update your number in Manage Your Booking.

You can use your digital boarding pass on your smartphone or tablet, or print it out if you have accessed your boarding pass via email. Or, if you have the Qantas app, you'll continue to receive a notification allowing you to complete a quick and simple check-in, and be automatically notified of any changes to your flight.

Once checked in, you'll be able to pass straight through the airport and go straight through to the gate or lounge. It's the perfect option for the busy traveller.

Bags

If you need to check bags, simply print your bag tags from a kiosk or bag tag printer and head to Bag Drop. If your bags have Q Bag Tags, go straight to Bag Drop*. If you have two eligible segments in the same flight, it's essential you have both boarding passes before dropping your bags off.

Rollout

Auto Check-in is currently available for selected flights on the following routes:

Sydney - Perth - Sydney

Sydney - Adelaide - Sydney

Sydney - Darwin - Sydney

* Not available at Cloncurry, Moranbah, Hamilton Island, Mount Hotham, Gladstone or Geraldton.
Mobile Check-in (Flights within Australia only)

You can check in on your mobile from 24 hours up until 45 minutes before your flight departure on most domestic flights.

All you need to do is visit qantas.com on your mobile, select Domestic Check-in or Manage Your Booking and enter your details. If you land on the desktop version, switch to the mobile site at qantas.com/mobile.

Now select the passengers you want to check in. You can elect to check in for your return flight if you are returning on the same day. We'll send you an SMS with your boarding pass.

Remember, you can view or change your seat or the seat of passengers on the same booking by selecting the 'Change' button next to each passenger.

Add your boarding pass to Passbook or Samsung Wallet

If you're on an iPhone running iOS6 and above, add your boarding pass to Passbook to be automatically notified of your gate and any other flight updates.

If you have the Samsung Wallet app installed on your Samsung device, add your boarding pass to your wallet. Note that there are no notifications from Samsung Wallet.

Mobile Check-in with carry-on baggage only

When you arrive at the airport, if you are travelling with carry-on baggage only, make your way through security and head straight to the gate.

Mobile Check-in with checked baggage

If you have checked baggage, you'll need to drop your bags at bag drop at least 30 minutes before your flight departs.

If you have a Q Bag Tag, drop your bags at bag drop or the dedicated Bag Drop counter.

If you don't have a Q Bag Tag, print your paper bag tags at the Check-in Kiosks located in the check-in area (where available) before you head to the bag drop.

Once at the bag drop unit, simply scan your boarding pass, place your bag on the belt and follow the simple prompts on the screen to have your bag accepted.
