Discover South Australia
There's so much to see and do in South Australia, from the city of Adelaide to the grandeur of the Flinders Ranges in the outback.
We've put together our Top 5 experiences to make your visit to South Australia a truly memorable one.
Five great South Australian experiences
Kangaroo Island wildlife
Without a doubt, Kangaroo Island has to be one of the most amazing destinations for close interactions with an abundance of Australian wildlife. Kangaroo Island, Australia's third largest island, offers a complete quintessential Australian experience, just a 20 minute flight from Adelaide. The wildlife is plentiful - kangaroos and koalas can be found at every turn, plus echidnas, wallabies, penguins and of course the opportunity to walk on the beach among hundreds of rare Australian sealions. Take the time to spend a few days, you won't be disappointed.
Swim with Sea Lions, Port Lincoln
While you can walk among sea lions on Kangaroo Island, you can come just as close to these underwater 'puppy dogs of the sea' on the Eyre Peninsula. Daily sailings head out from Port Lincoln to Seal Cove, where you can drop into the waves as these cheeky creatures twirl, loop and somersault in the water next to you. For the aquatic enthusiast, you can also swim with giant tuna, dolphins and come face to face with the Great White Shark on an underwater cage shark diving experience. Just a 45 minute flight from Adelaide with QantasLink.
Blend your own Wine, Barossa Valley
In just under an hour's drive from Adelaide you will enter The Barossa, home to some of the big wine labels including Jacob's Creek, Wolf Blass and Oxford Landing to name a few, plus a variety of superb boutique cellar doors. Visit the Winemakers' Laboratory at renowned Penfolds, where an expert will guide you through a tasting and blending experience. Your wine will be presented to you in a personalised bottle to take home and treasure… or enjoy!
Safari in the Flinders Ranges
Wilpena Pound, located in the heart of the Flinders Ranges, is a prehistoric natural amphitheatre. The Pound can be explored on foot by joining a walking safari or by air on an unforgettable scenic flight. Stay in iconic accommodation including Rawnsley Park Station eco villas and Arkaba Homestead which offers a taste of Outback station life, as well as the opportunity for a walking safari that includes sleeping under the stars in swags.
Shopping with a Master Chef at Adelaide Central Market
Located in the heart of the city, Adelaide Central Market offers the largest range of fresh food and produce in the Southern Hemisphere. A sensory and interactive gourmet walking tour with local 'foodie' Mark Gleeson will give a glimpse into Australia's love of food, and is a must when visiting Adelaide.
