About the program

Up you go...

The Qantas graduate program has been designed to help you become a leader in the organisation. Over two years and four rotations, you'll develop the skills you need to become a part of our success story - and to start writing your own.

You'll have access to the entire Qantas network, giving you opportunities to learn about everything from Operations, Marketing, Sales and Loyalty, right through to our Corporate functions.

Year One

In your first year at Qantas, we'll make sure you're well and truly set up for success.
You'll kick off your journey with an in-depth induction program at our Corporate Headquarters in Mascot. Here, you'll spend time with our senior leaders, and get out to see the aircraft and airport - so you can get acquainted with the fascinating world of aviation.

Your program manager will be on hand to support you every step of the way, and you'll be assigned a buddy for some extra help as well. When it comes time to get down to work, you'll be taking part in real projects that impact our airline - learning how to successfully manage changes and challenges in the workplace, and building your own personal resilience as well.

Year Two

By the time your second year begins, you'll be given more responsibility to kick important goals, and meet objectives that have a real impact on the business. We'll hold formal development sessions and a tailored timetable - so you can be sure you're on the right path to success.

On top of that, you'll keep strengthening your leadership skills, with plenty of opportunities to work with senior leaders along the way.

The years ahead

Once you've completed your program, you'll be in the perfect position to move into all kinds of areas of the organisation. Previous graduates have joined teams in Strategy, Marketing, Loyalty, HR and our Operational and Commercial teams.

The opportunities are endless - so it's up to you to decide where your journey takes you next.

Your application journey

What to check before you start?

We're looking forward to welcoming some fresh new faces on board soon - and one of those could be yours. But before you apply for one of our graduate position, there are a few things you'll need to check:

  • Are you in your final year of study? Or have you completed an undergraduate degree or postgraduate study in the last 2 years?
  • Do you have, or did you graduate with, a distinction average or higher?
  • Can you work full time when the graduate program starts in February 2016?
  • Will you be a Permanent Resident or an Australian/NZ citizen when you apply?
  • Would you be willing to relocate to Sydney?
  • Are you available to attend our selection process on the 23 & 24 of September 2015?

If you've had work experience in a corporate environment or taken a leadership role in any extra-curricular activities, that's a bonus, so be sure to let us know.

What happens next?

Once you've decided that you'd like to apply (and checked that you're right for a position) here's what you can expect from the rest of the process:

  • Online aptitude test
  • Online video interview
  • Assessment Centre in Sydney on the 23 & 24 of September 2015
  • Formal interview

And finally, we'll check references and make offers from 5 - 9 October 2015.

Diversity & Indigenous Engagement

A place for everyone.

What is diversity and inclusion?

Australia is a country that's known for its multiculturalism - for embracing our differences as the things that make us special. And as an organisation that embodies the Spirit of Australia, it's no surprise that we're just as proud to celebrate diversity here at Qantas.
Whether it's your background, life experiences, education or area of expertise - or your gender, age, ethnicity, cultural background, disability, religion and sexual orientation - having a diverse team means everyone has a voice. We're all heard, and we're all welcome. It's an important part of our culture, and a vital element to our success as an organisation, too.

We need all of our people to help make diversity a part of everything we do. And that includes you. After all, we're infinitely better together.

Indigenous Engagement

We want to do everything we can to help Indigenous Australians gain more skills and find exciting employment opportunities. For this reason, we have a number of programs in place, including our education to employment pathways.

Our Indigenous Careers team are dedicated to finding internships and other job opportunities across the Qantas Group or in other businesses. We've seen first-hand just how much of a difference these programs can make to people's lives.

By joining us, you'll be joining an organisation full of individuals who are opening more doors for Indigenous Australians.

Social Responsibility & Sustainability
Qantas is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we invite you to be part of an organisation that fosters a diverse workplace, supports many charities and environmental iniatives, and is actively committed to Australia's youth, the arts and sport. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
