Qantas Dividend Reinvestment Plan
The Qantas Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) was reinstated for the 2007/08 Final Dividend paid on 1 October 2008. If you have previously elected to participate in the DRP, your election was automatically reinstated. If you have not elected to participate in the DRP or you would like to vary your participation, you will need to complete the DRP Application or Variation Form mailed to you by Qantas.
The following is provided for your information only.
This overview of the DRP should be read in conjunction with the complete terms and conditions of the Qantas Dividend Reinvestment Plan.
Main Features
Right to Participate
All shareholders with an Australian registry address are eligible to participate in the DRP.
Shareholders with registry addresses outside Australia may be excluded if any offer of shares under the DRP would or might breach local securities laws. For this reason, American Depository Receipt holders are not eligible to participate in the DRP.
How to Participate
Participation in the DRP is entirely optional. You may elect to participate by completing a DRP Application or Variation form and returning it to the Qantas Share Registry. Additional DRP Application or Variation forms may be obtained from the Qantas Share Registry.
You may participate in the DRP at any time. Your participation will commence with the first dividend paid after receipt of a valid DRP Application or Variation form. However, the DRP Application or Variation form must be received before 5:00pm on the Record Date to participate in that dividend.
Full or Partial Participation
Shareholders may elect to participate as follows:
a) full participation in the DRP; or
b) partial participation in the DRP.
If you elect to participate fully in the DRP, then all shares held by you at the relevant Record Date for all dividends will be treated as participating in the DRP.
If you choose partial participation, only the specific number of shares nominated will participate.
The level of participation by any shareholder in the DRP is subject to compliance with the Qantas foreign ownership provisions - see clause 5 of the terms and conditions of the DRP.
Dividends will be paid in the normal way for shares not participating in the DRP.
Variation of Level of Participation or Withdrawal
You may vary your level of participation or withdraw from the DRP at any time by completing a DRP Application or Variation form and forwarding it to the Qantas Share Registry.
Subject to the DRP Application or Variation form being received before 5:00pm on the Record Date, the DRP Application or Variation form will be effective from the next dividend payment date.
Costs of Participation
No brokerage or other transaction/administration costs are payable by shareholders on shares allotted under the DRP at this time.
Number of Shares to be Allotted
The number of new shares to be allotted to each participant depends on the value of the dividend declared. The exact number of new shares will be the value of the dividend entitlement divided by the Issue Price, rounded down to the nearest whole number of shares. The notional balance will be retained on your behalf and carried forward to the next dividend.
DRP Statements
Qantas will send participants a statement for each dividend payment providing full details of allotment under the DRP.
Sale of Shares
Shareholders participating in the DRP may sell any of their shares at any time.
Priority
Where a shareholder sells Qantas shares, any shares not participating in the DRP are deemed to be sold first, followed by any shares participating in the DRP.
Taxation
Qantas takes no responsibility for any taxation liability of participants. Shareholders should seek their own tax advice in relation to the DRP. Some general comments on the taxation implications of participation in the DRP provided by Minter Ellison, Lawyers are set out below.
Overseas residents should make their own enquiries regarding any tax liability.
DRP
Qantas has a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP). To elect to participate in the DRP or if you would like to vary your participation, please complete a DRP Application or Variation Form which is available at Qantas Share Registry Services.
Rights Attaching to Shares Allotted Under the DRP
Shares allotted under the DRP rank equally in all respects with existing shares from the date of allotment.
Modification of the DRP
The DRP may be modified, suspended or terminated by the Directors at any time by giving participants notice.
