Recognition of Sustainability Performance and Disclosure

Sustainability Index Listing
The Qantas Group's commitment to sustainability is demonstrated through its inclusion in leading sustainable investment indexes. As institutional investors place increasing focus on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices of companies to make their investment decisions, the Qantas Group has specifically chosen to participate in these leading indexes due to their reputation as reliable, objective and transparent sources of this information to the market.

Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)

Since September 2011 we have been recognised on the DJSI World Index and are currently one of only two airlines listed. We have been included in the DJSI Asia Pacific Index since 2009 and are also a member of the Australian SAM Sustainability Index (AuSSI). In 2012 we were awarded a Silver Class Distinction in the SAM Sustainability Yearbook as well as being recognised as the Sector Mover for Airlines.

FTSE4Good
We have been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index and Australia 30 Index since 2009.

Carbon Disclosure Project
In 2010, 2011 and 2012 Qantas was included in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for Australia and New Zealand, achieving equal-highest score in 2012.
Sustainability Award
Banksia Environmental Award - In 2012 we won the Leading in Sustainability - Setting the Standard for Large Organisations category at the Banksia Environmental Awards.
At the 2012 Australasian Investor Relations Association Awards we were awarded equal forth position in the 'Best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure by an Australasian Company' category.

The Qantas Group has adopted an investor definition of sustainability, which includes embracing opportunities and managing risks to achieve sustainable growth in returns to shareholders. This includes a commitment to managing and reporting on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance.

- the Sustainability Statistics and Notes in the Annual Report 2012 and;
- an integrated ESG analysis in the Qantas Sustainability Review 2012
