Qantas Cityflyer Takes Off To Adelaide
Sydney, 30 August 2002
Qantas today announced that the airline's successful Cityflyer service would start operating to and from Adelaide, commencing November 18.
Qantas Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing John Borghetti said the Adelaide Cityflyer schedule would offer 15 return services each week day between Adelaide and Sydney and 11 return services each week day between Adelaide and Melbourne.
"Cityflyer has quickly established itself as the best product in the domestic market for business travellers because it offers flexibility and choice and streamlines the airport process," Mr Borghetti said.
As with all Cityflyer services, the Adelaide flights will feature:
* dedicated departure gates and baggage carousels * dedicated check-in and customer service desk at the departure gates * stand-alone, easy-to-read information screens* complimentary newspapers on week day flights between 6.00 am and 9.00 am* the ability to use mobile phones while boarding aircraft via aerobridges and inside the aircraft until the time the doors of the aircraft are closed * complimentary beer and wine in economy class on weekday flights after 4.00 pm
Cityflyer was launched on the Sydney-Melbourne route in July last year and was extended to the Sydney-Brisbane and Brisbane-Melbourne routes in February 2002.
Mr Borghetti said that the expansion of Cityflyer to Adelaide further highlighted Qantas' continuing investment in improved facilities and services for customers.
Earlier this month, for example, Qantas introduced state-of-the-art QuickCheck kiosks at Sydney and Melbourne domestic airports. QuickCheck allows customers to check themselves in for their flight in less than one minute and is currently available for customers without baggage. QuickCheck will be expanded to other cities, including Adelaide, and will also be available for customers with baggage.
