Qantas Adds Extra Year-Round Service to Queenstown
Sydney, 05 December 2007
Qantas announced today that it would add a second year-round weekly service between Sydney and Queenstown from 24 September 2008.
Qantas Executive General Manager, John Borghetti, said Queenstown continued to grow in popularity.
"Queenstown has always been a very attractive destination during the New Zealand ski season, but an increasing number of people now realise the area's appeal at other times of the year," Mr Borghetti said. "This additional service will cater for this increased year-round demand."
"The second year-round service from Sydney will operate on Wednesdays, offering a mid-week alternative to the current Saturday service. "
From 24 September 2008, Qantas' services from Australia to Queenstown will comprise:
- two year round services per week from Sydney
- one additional seasonal service per week from Sydney during the ski season
- one seasonal service per week from Melbourne during the ski season
- one seasonal service per week from Brisbane during the ski season
All Qantas services between Australia and Queenstown are operated by 168-seat Boeing 737-800. Seasonal services in 2008 will operate between 28 June and 21 September.
