Additional Capacity to Tamworth for Country Music Festival
Sydney, 24 January 2002
QantasLink will provide additional capacity on services to and from Tamworth over the Australia Day holiday weekend.
General Manager of QantasLink operator Eastern Australia Airlines, Ashley Kilroy, said the additional capacity would cater for increased demand for seats during the city's Country Music Festival.
"The Australia Day weekend is one of the busiest of the Country Music Festival with the award ceremony and street parade and there has been strong demand for travel this weekend," Mr Kilroy said.
QantasLink will operate four services between Sydney and Tamworth on Friday 25 January. Three of these services have been upgraded from 36-seat Dash 8 aircraft to the larger 50-seat Dash 8-300 aircraft to cater for the increased demand.
An additional service has been scheduled between Tamworth and Sydney on Sunday 27 January. Two of the four regular Sunday services will be operated by the larger 50-seat Dash 8-300 aircraft to cater for customers returning from the music festival.
Mr Kilroy said the Country Music Festival was a time of high demand for travel to and from Tamworth, but the additional capacity meant seats were still available for those planning to travel to the region.
