Qantas sends message of support to South Africa direct from Bondi Beach
Sydney, 18 June 2010
Hundreds of Qantas Socceroos supporters rallied at Bondi Beach today to send their message of support to the Qantas Socceroos in South Africa ahead of their match against Ghana tomorrow.
The Qantas Socceroos supporters turned out in their green and gold and held the giant Qantas Scarf of Support along the shore line.
Qantas has been collecting messages of support for the Qantas Socceroos via its website in the lead up to and during the World Cup, with each message contributing 10cm to the scarf. Over 8000 messages have now been submitted resulting in an impressive 800m long scarf, stretching nearly the entire length of iconic Bondi Beach.
Along with the many fans, former Qantas Socceroos player Steve Corica was also there to support the team today and said the team would appreciate the support from home.
“It’s great to see the Australian fans come out and support the boys today and its fantastic to see the messages of support continue to pour in for the team. The team will see the coverage in South Africa and will get an extra boost for their match against Ghana tomorrow night,” Corica said.
Go Qantas Socceroos – we’re with you all the way!
