Qantas reaches new agreement with cabin crew

Qantas will continue to offer the best pay and employment conditions for cabin crew in Australia after reaching an in-principle enterprise bargaining agreement (EBA) with the union representing short-haul cabin crew.

The agreement reached with the Flight Attendants Association of Australia Domestic/Regional Division (FAAA) will be put to a vote to around 2150 Customer Service Mangers and Flight Attendants in around three weeks time.

Qantas Group Executive Operations Lyell Strambi said the airline was pleased to reach an agreement with the FAAA.

“Our cabin crew play a very important role in providing safety and customer service to our passengers during every single flight,” Mr Strambi said.

“We are pleased that we have been able to negotiate a new agreement for our cabin crew which will provide improved pay and conditions and also provide the airline with greater flexibility.”

Details of the three-year agreement include:
- 3 per cent pay increase each year for 3 years
- $500 lump sum payment each year for three years
- Customer Service Managers will receive an additional increment in their classifications
- Improved flexibility for Qantas for rostering

Negotiations on the new agreement commenced with the FAAA in April this year.

The vote will open on 28 October and close on 18 November.

Earlier this year Qantas reached an agreement with the Australian Services Union which represents the largest part of our workforce and includes check-in staff at airports around Australia.
