Weather

The tropical destination is blessed with a tropical climate and stays mostly warm throughout the year. During the days the temperature hovers around 30^oC, perfect for a beach holiday or if you are looking to escape winter. The best month to visit is from May to October when it's less humid and there's plenty of sunshine. November to April has higher temperature and more rain.

Getting to and around

Fiji's international airport (NAN) is located in Nadi on the main island Viti Levu. Flight time is approximately 4 hours from Sydney (5 hours on the return flight), 4 hours from Brisbane and 5 hours from Melbourne (6 hours on the return flight).

Transfers from the airport including air-conditioned coaches and private cars are the best way to reach your accommodation. For the outlying islands such as Mamanuca and Yasawa, there are sea cruises, catamarans and domestic flights available to your holiday resorts.

Good to know

• Money: The main currency is the Fijian dollar. Australian and US dollars can be exchanged in all banks.
• Electricity: The country has 3 pin power outlets same as those in Australia. The electrical current is 240 volts AC 50 cycle.
• Passports and Visas: Australian passport holders are granted free visas on arrival. Passport must be valid with at least 3 months beyond the departure date.
• Clothing: Pack for a tropical climate, such as light clothing, shorts, t-shirts, sandals, sandshoes and swimwear is sufficient. Also include some smart casuals for dinner.
