Additional Baggage
If you think your bags will exceed the Qantas checked baggage allowance, why not pre-purchase an Additional Baggage Allowance online at qantas.com before you go?
The rates are lower than Airport Excess Baggage charges and Qantas Frequent Flyers can pay using points.
Additional baggage allowance is available for Qantas operated flights with a "QF" flight number. It is not available for flights operated by another carrier (such as codeshare or interline flights) or if you are connecting to/from a flight operated by another airline within 24 hours of your Qantas operated flight. The additional baggage rates of the operating airline applies in these instances.
If you have not pre-purchased sufficient Additional Baggage Allowance for your Qantas operated flight, excess baggage charges will apply at the airport for any pieces in excess of your checked baggage allowance and pre-purchased additional allowance. In addition, a heavy charge will apply at the airport if your allowance is 23kg per piece and any piece exceeds that weight. No single item of checked baggage may exceed 32kg.
