Recruitment Process
The recruitment process will vary role to role, and depending on the segment the role sits in, but the general process is outlined below.
Applying for roles and registering your interest
You can currently search and apply for all roles within the Qantas group as well as register your interest for future vacancies.
Explore roles currently available and submit your resume via the 'Apply Now' button located at the top of each vacancy listing. First impressions count so ensure your CV is up to date and highlights skills and experience relevant to the job for which you are applying. This will give you the best chance of being short-listed for the next stage. There may be additional role specific questions which you'll need to answer so we can consider your application.
Assessment
If you're successful in being short-listed, you'll be invited to attend an assessment. This may be one or a combination of the following: interview, psychometric testing, assessment centre or in tray exercises.
Interview
This is an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to obtain more information about Qantas and the role you have applied for. Interviews will take place with a representative from HR, the hiring manager or a combination of both. The number and type of interviews across the segments will vary.
We may utilise Behavioural Event Interview questions which are designed to get you to talk about how you responded to or handled specific situations or events in the past. To best answer these questions you need to set the scene, describe the action you took and explain what the outcome was.
Psychometric assessment
This may be used as an additional objective, reliable and relevant assessment method. Types of psychometric testing that may be used include verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, abstract reasoning and personality tests.
Employment Reference Checks and Background Checking
As a leading provider of domestic and international air travel, safety and security is paramount to Qantas. As a result, all Qantas employees will be required to pass a security check.Further details of this will be explained to you during the recruitment process. If you do not complete and pass the relevant background checks, your job offer will be withdrawn.
Managing your information
Whether you apply for a vacancy or register your profile to be considered for future vacancies, you will be providing Qantas with confidential information about yourself. Qantas is committed to storing and managing your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and at all times you will have full access to view, edit, update or even remove your profile.
By maintaining an up to date record on our database you can choose to be kept informed of vacancies that are relevant to your preferences and skills. Additionally key pieces of information can be automatically pre-populated into any future applications, saving you valuable time.
