Flight updates for passengers travelling
Qantas customers booked to travel on valid Qantas and partner flights with a valid mobile phone number in their booking will automatically receive updates for flight changes via SMS.
We'll notify you of changes to the scheduled departure time for most Qantas, Qantas Codeshare and Partner Airlines flights, such as significant delays and cancellations.
Call Qantas on 13 13 13 within Australia, or your local Qantas office, if you are outside Australia. Do not SMS the phone number that delivers your Flight Update as it is used to deliver messages only.
Schedule of flights updates:
|Delays||Delays greater than 30 minutes (as well as further delays greater than 30 minutes) will be advised when Qantas becomes aware of the delay at least 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time but less than 40 hours.||Delays greater than 60 minutes will be advised when Qantas becomes aware of the delay at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time but less than 40 hours.|
|Cancellations||If your flight is cancelled more than 60 minutes but less than 40 hours before to scheduled departure time.||If your flight is cancelled more than 90 minutes but less than 40 hours before scheduled departure time.|
|Early Departures||If your flight’s revised departure time is earlier than originally scheduled.||If your flight’s revised departure time is earlier than originally scheduled.|
Note that SMS messages will not be sent if your flight has a Jetstar flight number; or is a charter flight; or is not a Qantas, QantasLink or a Qantas Codeshare or Partner Airline flight; or is one of the excluded flights listed in the terms and conditions. We also don't send updates when the delay or cancellation occurs close to the scheduled or previously advised departure time.
New! Friends and Family Flight Updates
Do you have a friend or family member travelling? You can now stay informed about their departure and arrival times via email or text by registering for Flight Updates at Flight Status. Search for the status of a flight and the option to receive updates will appear.
You'll start receiving flight updates on the day of departure.

We cannot guarantee delivery of any flight updates to your phone or email due to factors outside our control. However, we will endeavour to ensure that you receive timely and accurate information. See our terms and conditions for full details.
