International Airport Check-in
You can check-in at the airport for all Qantas international flights. Note that you can select seats online from 24 hours to 2 hours before departure.
To check-in at the airport, bring your E-Ticket, Qantas Booking Reference number, passport and any relevant international travel documents and visit the check-in counters.
The friendly and professional staff at the airport will be able to check you in for your flight and assist with any questions you may have.
Note that travellers departing London Heathrow can use our Check-in Kiosks.
First passengers and Platinum Frequent Flyers are able to check-in at the exclusive First check-in area at selected airports, and fast-track through Immigration.
Business and Premium Economy passengers, Gold Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members have access to dedicated check counters in all ports.
Travellers checking in at the airport will have baggage labels attached at check-in. Dedicated bag drop counters are available for premium customers travelling on selected Trans-Tasman flights.
Be sure to label your baggage inside and out, with your name, address and contact number for your destination and ensure that all old destination stickers and tags are removed from all baggage.
Faster, Smarter Check-in for Trans-Tasman Flights
New! Qantas is currently piloting check-in kiosks and bag drop facilities on selected flights to Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington from Sydney International Airport.*
Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members who are Australian and New Zealand passport holders can now check-in using the International Q Card Readers for direct flights between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland, Wellington or Queenstown.^
Follow three easy steps to check-in for your next Trans-Tasman flight.
- Scan your Q Card. (Hold your Qantas Card at the Q icon on the Q Card Reader)
- Scan your passport. (Check-in is confirmed once the Q Card Reader illuminates green and a boarding pass will be printed)
- Collect your boarding pass (unlike domestic check-in, travellers will not receive an SMS).
If you're travelling without bags, go directly to Immigration. If you're travelling with bags, drop your bags at the dedicated bag drop counter. Note that you cannot use the Q Bag Tag on international flights.
Customers who are currently eligible to receive an Express Path immigration card, will have the Express Path logo printed on their boarding pass, enabling access to the Express lane+ to expedite their immigration clearance.
The introduction of the new international Q Card Readers forms part of our plans to broaden the use of the award-winning Faster, Smarter technology, bringing speed and ease to the international check-in experience.
^ Faster, Smarter Check-in is only available for direct, point to point flights. It cannot be used if you have an onward connecting flight.
+ Available at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane only.
