3 Reasons to Visit Barrio El Golf, Santiago, Chile

The “Sanhattan” financial district finally earns its moniker with chic restaurants, designer shops and cool hotels. Read on for our guide to Barrio El Golf in Santiago, Chile.
The dining scene is booming

Chef Sergio Barroso, a regular on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, helms 45 Bistró, where you can feast on three-course lunches for about A$30 (wine included). Dishes served in the eatery’s surreal cream-and-lime-green setting change daily but might include the flaky white fish reineta atop beurre blanc or grilled avocado crowned with crab tartar and prawns.
It’s a shopping mecca
Multi-floor Mercado Urbano Tobalaba unites Santiago’s premier fashion designers, homeware brands and food purveyors under one roof for a showcase of homegrown talent. This striking complex, which has been opening in stages since 2023, features dynamic visual art displays, landscaped gardens and lofty vistas. The shops to check out include Snog for urban menswear, Majen to pick up forest-inspired skincare and Fiol Dulcería for Chilean confectionery.
There are one-of-a-kind hotels

El Golf has some of the city’s liveliest hotels, which lie halfway between the museums of Santiago Centro and the high-end streets of Vitacura. A newer option here is Casa Cecilia, where the six rooms pop with bold colours and designs, such as vivid wallpaper. The B&B is in an old mansion on a residential street around the corner from the home of an ex-president.
