“How I Travel” with Actor Joe Klocek

To the United Kingdom for My Lady Jane, the Top End for Territory and Geraldton for Invisible Boys – the Brisbane-born actor has been clocking up his Frequent Flyer points.
The film or show that takes you away?
The first movies I watched that made me want to travel were James Bond films. They certainly made me want to travel to London – and now I live there.
What essentials do you travel with?
I have a Stubble & Co backpack I take everywhere – it has the best laptop holder. It’s compact, fits in every airline compartment and you pack it and go.
Your must-listen holiday songs?
Movie soundtracks by Hans Zimmer. I can chill out to his music; it’s orchestral and epic. My favourite is Cornfield Chase from Interstellar [2014].
The hotel you’d return to in a second?
Sanctuary Palm Cove for a beautiful secluded apartment set among the trees. It feels like a giant treehouse. Having a relaxing place to kick back is great after days exploring.
The luggage you swear by?
American Tourister. I have the whole set, all in black. Simple and elegant.
Where was the most memorable meal you’ve ever had?

The Ponto Final restaurant in Almada, Portugal. It has the best seafood and view.
Your perfect snapshot travel memory?
Recently my family – Mum, Dad and my brother, Daniel – came over to the UK. We took a road trip to Cornwall and visited St Michael’s Mount (below). The light there was amazing at particular times and you can walk along the pathway to the castle as the tide goes out. It’s like a fairytale.
