You can track your phone, your keys and even your glasses case. Now, thanks to a brand-new luggage range, you can track your suitcase, too. Qantas and July have teamed up on a sleek new set of suitcases that pairs the leading Australian lifestyle brand's contemporary design with an innovative new CaseSafe™ technology, resulting in premium  suitcases that can be tracked from the moment you check‑in to when you arrive safely at your destination.

The world’s first trackable suitcase sounds exciting! Tell me more about it.

Think of all the standout features that make July's luggage a cut above: sleek, durable polycarbonate shells, ultra-smooth SilentMove™ 360-degree spinner wheels and thoughtful interior touches such as water-resistant linings,. What that gives it the edge over your existing suitcase? The introduction of integrated tracking capabilities to ensure you know exactly where your case is throughout the entirety of your journey.

What are some of its best features?

Each piece of luggage  features July’s innovative CaseSafe™ tracking technology which is seamlessly built into the lock system (the discreet tracking button, stamped with an arrow, is visible on the exterior of the case near the lock digits). CaseSafe™ connects with/works in conjunction with both Apple’s Find My network and Google’s Find My Device, to track bags across global travel networks. Set‑up is simple: press the tracking button until it lights up, open your chosen app and add the case as a new device. Once paired, you’re good to go. The tracking technology is fully discoverable (even when your phone is switched to Aeroplane Mode) and there’s no need to reconnect unless you manually disconnect. It operates using a CR2032 battery (similar to an airtag) which only needs to be changed roughly once a year depending on how frequently you use it.

July’s known for its stylish design. What do the cases look like?

The game‑changing new case comes in two designs, both available in carry‑on and checked sizes. The Qantas Edition by July pairs a midnight‑black shell with black leather handles and  sophisticated detailing in the signature Qantas red. Gold, Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyers also have exclusive access to the Qantas Exclusive Edition which can be purchased via Qantas Marketplace. This special iteration comes in a deep navy‑blue colourway, finished with Napa leather handles and tan accents. Both styles feature the Qantas logo, an integrated luggage‑tag holder, aluminium corner bumpers to prevent scuffs and July’s signature SilentMove™ 360-degree spinner double‑wheels that make gliding through the airport a cinch.

What sizes are in the range and what are their measurements?

The collection comes in two sizes – carry‑on and check-in – which can be purchased individually or as a set.

The carry‑on is light, weighing a little over three kilograms and holding up to 42 litres. At 55 centimeters high and is 38.5 centimeters wide, with a depth of 21.5 centimeters including wheels, it falls well within Qantas cabin baggage allowances. [On domestic flights, Qantas allows flyers to bring one piece of luggage up to 10 kilograms; two smaller pieces with a combined weight of 14 kilograms; or one small piece plus a garment bag to the same 14‑kilogram limit. International Economy passengers may carry one piece up to seven kilograms, while First, Business and Premium Economy follow the domestic allowance (one up to 10 kilos; two totalling 14 kilos; or one piece plus a garment bag, up to 14 kilos).]

The check‑in case is a little larger, standing at 66 centimetres tall with a width of 47 centimeters and a depth of 29 centimeters, with a weight of around four and a half kilograms on its own. Again, the case is compliant with Qantas check-in allowances. On most domestic routes, non‑Frequent Flyers and Bronze members can check one bag weighing up to 23 kilograms, while international allowances typically permit one piece of up to 32 kilograms. Business and First Class passengers are entitled to check in two or three pieces depending on their flight, each weighing up to 32 kilograms.
