Browser Plug-ins are individual pieces of software that enhance both the performance and functions of a user’s browser. For example, the ability to play audio or view video movies from within the browser window.

Correct Plug-in icons and links
The following icons are to be displayed on relevant pages for the user to download these plug-ins:

If a page requires the use of a third party plug-in, it must:
- Include a link to the third party website where the user can download the plug-in. The link to the vendor page where the plug-in is available must spawn a new browser in accordance with New Windows and Pop-ups. This link should be clearly labelled including the branded plug-in button and inform the user that they will be visiting a site outside of qantas.com or related site. This information belongs at the bottom of the page.
- Be virus scanned before being made available.
- Be clearly labelled with the plug-in file type (For example, PDF, Flash Version 6, etc)
- Be clearly labelled with the file size. (For example, Gb, Mb, Kb, bytes).
- Display approximate download time optional. Use for larger files that take more than 10 sec to download.
- Display ‘ * ‘ outside of the brackets containing the plug-in information to refer user to the footnotes about the plug-in. Example (PDF – 116k)*
- Be kept under 300kb. If the file is larger, it should be broken into parts where possible.
Macromedia Flash
Macromedia Flash is used across qantas.com and related sites to enhance the user experience of selected pages. It provides users with a more interactive and graphical experience than flat HTML pages.
It is important that all Flash components used within qantas.com and related sites are approved by Online Sales Design Team before production begins.
