When it comes to Singapore, futuristic architecture, swathes of green space and an iconic cocktail are most likely the first things that come to mind. But located just off the south coast is a tropical island that brims with infectious energy and fun attractions for the whole family. Connected to the mainland by bridge, monorail, pedestrian walkway and cable car, Sentosa is blessed with verdant rainforest and glittering beaches, as well as a plethora of high-octane activities and attractions. Given the island is just under five square kilometres, the majority of sites are within walking distance from each other. Here are the best things to do during your visit.

Explore a blockbuster theme park

Universal Studios, Sentosa Island, Singapore

Epic rides. Fantastical worlds. Your favourite film characters come to life. The only Universal Studios in South-East Asia is a supersized affair, with rollercoasters paying white-knuckled tribute to films such as The Mummy and the Transformers franchise. Families with little ones will want to head to the Jurassic Park-themed The Lost World to soar on the back of Pteranodons, while Hollywood obsessives will enjoy star-spotting along the park’s replica Walk of Fame.

Sleep with the fishes

Equarius Ocean Suites, Sentosa Island, Singapore

Wake up to the incredible sight of manta rays and 40,000 other exotic fish gliding past your bedroom window after spending the night in one of just 11 luxurious Equarius Ocean Suites. Looking directly into the S.E.A. Aquarium’s mesmerising blue depths, each of the sumptuous two-storey suites has a private hot-tub and open-air patio on the top floor, as well as the convenience of an on-call butler.

Broaden your palate’s horizons

The unique flavours of Peruvian-Chinese food are on full display at Chifa! – the first restaurant of its kind in Singapore. Located at five-star hotel Crockfords Tower next to Universal Studios, the lively restaurant showcases the 200-year-old fusion cuisine (also known as chifa) which melds immigrant Chinese influences with classic Peruvian traditions to create compelling flavour combinations. Expect dishes such as yellowfin tuna tamarind ceviche and abalone marinated in Chinese wine and dashi, served with caviar.

Fuel your adrenaline at a waterpark

Adventure Cove Waterpark, Sentosa Island, Singapore

Cool down while amping up the fun at Adventure Cove Waterpark, a 10-minute walk from Crockfords Tower. The aquatic attractions at this splashy theme park include nail-bitingly steep waterslides, a hydro-magnetic roller-coaster and the two-metre-high swells of Bluwater Bay’s wave pool. For those who prefer nature over thrills, don your snorkelling gear and head to the man-made Rainbow Reef lagoon where a dazzling array of 20,000 brightly coloured fish flit around the coral.

Step into a world of mischief and mayhem

Super Silly Fun Land, Sentosa Island, Singapore

In February 2025, non-stop mischief, adventure and super-villainy leaps off the screen and into Universal Studios Singapore with the opening of its brand new Minion Land experience. Join the comical yellow henchmen of Felonious Gru in a three-part adventure through the Despicable Me films, complete with rides – including an immersive journey through Gru’s lab – the first-ever Minion dance-party carousel with DJ tunes, and themed food from the Super Silly Fun Land-inspired Super Hungry Food Stand – order the rainbow cheesecake adorned with a replica of Agnes’ unicorn, Papoy.

Dine on prime Australian produce

Less than five minutes’ walk from the immersive Harry Potter: Visions of Magic experience, Australia’s world-class produce is celebrated in woodfired style at Osia Steak and Seafood Grill For those who miss the taste of home. Think marbled ‘2GR’ wagyu, sustainably farmed Humpty Doo barramundi, Queensland yellowfin tuna steak and Fremantle octopus. Award winning Aussie chef Scott Webster’s flame-kissed menu is matched with a cellar of benchmark wines from Australia’s top wineries including Penfolds, Vasse Felix and Giaconda.

Explore an underwater paradise

S.E.A. Aquarium’s Open Ocean Habitat, Sentosa Island, Singapore

If you’ve always wanted to delve into the deep blue in the company of manta rays, giant groupers and sharks (the friendly sort), S.E.A. Aquarium’s Open Ocean Habitat is the place. On an Open Ocean Dive experience, you’ll get an introduction to the art of scuba diving in limited groups of eight, that’ll see you gliding through the vast 12-metre-deep ecosystem in the presence of trained guides and an incredible array of exotic fish.

Hang out with an apex predator

S.E.A Aquarium AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty Course

If you already hold a scuba certificate, channel your inner David Attenborough and swim alongside 12 species of sharks in two special areas of S.E.A Aquarium after learning fascinating details about the unique creatures on the AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty Course. The day-long program takes place in both the aquarium’s Shark Seas Habitat and the larger Open Ocean Habitat, allowing you to experience the likes of reef sharks and the endangered scalloped hammerhead up close – no cages here, but scuba gear is provided.

Sleep among the treetops

Equarius Treetop Lofts, Sentosa Island, Singapore

Hidden in the lush tropical canopy, Equarius Treetop Lofts offer high-altitude accommodation nestled in nature. Enjoy dinner from the resort delivery menu on your private decked terrace – as your personal butler organises everything from candles to wine – and wake refreshed in your four-poster bed to the sound of birds in the surrounding rainforest.

Indulge your inner gourmand

For sweet tooths, the extravagant cakes from RWS Patisserie are works of art that are almost too pretty to eat. Made with creative flair by master pâtissiers, the decadent selection – think matcha strawberry tarts and rich chocolate brownies with white coffee – will turn afternoon tea into a gastronomic celebration.
