Akamai

Every request done to qantas.com and qantas.com related sites will go through the Akamai caching servers. Only requests done from within the qantas network bypass Akamai.

Akamai is used to serve cached copies of the site. This increases performance and reduces load on the servers. Akamai also serves up a DR (Disaster Recovery) site when qantas.com goes down.

We have the option to set different refresh times for every specific file/folder on the site based on how often we anticipate this particular file/folder to change.

We also have the option of forcing Akamai to refresh. if you see a file differently from within the network to what it is for users outside the network, chances are that you have not flushed the Akamai cache.
